I've worked at Talent for quite some time now, and while I appreciate the opportunity to work with a talented team, I’m compelled to express our deep concerns about the impact of labor policies and lack of leadership on our physical and mental well-being, as well as that of our colleagues in Colombia and possibly other offices.
We've been required to work overtime and weekends for months without receiving additional compensation, not even the minimum required by law. This is unfair and affects our financial stability. However, what's more concerning is the impact on our health: chronic stress, fatigue, anxiety, and depression have become common among us.
Our leaders seem inexperienced and/or fearful of reporting the situation to the line of leadership below the CTO, and we fear retaliation if we speak up or contradict the CTO’s instructions. We can't approach HR directly without risking our positions. The CTO is aware of our situation, but doesn't seem to care. His actions suggest that he doesn't prioritize our well-being.
The addition of a small team from another country, which happened some months ago, has created challenges due to the significant time zone difference. Although they are not that many people, the dependence on their work has become a bottleneck, forcing us to work, reprocess and/or ending attending meetings outside our regular hours. This is exacerbated by the fact that the CEO and other executives are in a different time zone, and their schedules are prioritized over ours.
Furthermore, we feel that the CTO (who we admire) views us as mere resources, rather than human beings. This lack of empathy and understanding is concerning. While we embrace diversity, we can't shake off the feeling that we're disposable and might be replaced. It seems that our concerns could and are being used against us, fueling the notion that current professionals are not capable, which is unfair and unjust. The signs are there, and it's exhausting to feel that our performance is being scrutinized to justify hiring elsewhere.
Despite our efforts and dedication, we've reached a critical point. We've been working non-stop for several months, sacrificing time with our families and affecting our health. We love this company and value our jobs, but we need change. We hope this review will be a wake-up call for the executive team to reflect on the impact of their decisions on employee well-being. We're committed to the company's success, but we also want to be valued and respected as individuals. We hope they'll take our concerns seriously and work with us to find solutions.
