Wealth of retail expertise and an enviable client roster
Pros
Since joining I have had the opportunity to work with an amazing list of UK fashion retailers supporting their transformation programmes. There is a real diversity of consulting opportunities on offer at CMG from Change Management to Programme Management to Workshop Facilitation to Transformation Strategy and Planning offering a chance to really try a range of disciplines without pressure to focus on any given area before you are ready to do so. Getting time with senior management is not difficult given the size of the permanent team, they are always willing to meet and discuss your career and opportunities at CMG more broadly which helps with feeling connected whilst out on client site. I have attended two team days within 6 months of joining showing the emphasis the leadership team put on building a sense of togetherness across the company which can be difficult to achieve within Consulting. The size of the organisation also means you able to put forward suggestions and influence change a lot easier than in bigger consultancies.
Cons
The benefits are limited to perks and retail discounts (in addition of course to salary and a discretionary bonus). Benefits such as pension, private healthcare / dental care and maternity are not offered which is a shame and would make a real difference even if it came with a small salary sacrifice.
