Pros

You can give a bunch of students false hopes and mislead your average "switching career to tech" person into believing this is anything more than quick cash for the owners

Cons

They try their best to make you feel like this is an inclusive workplace for minorities, and leverage this feeling of "belonging" so that you don't question why their bottom line works so much and gets paid so little. Any staff members that have remained for more than a couple of years are just a group of friends that met in high school and found a way to exploit people's need for a decent way of living so they can reap all the benefits and keep the money to themselves. Their current mission statement is "to empower and sustain a talent pipeline of technologists and digital leaders who will uplift their communities." It used to end with "...who will uplift their communities out of poverty" but they can't even uplift their bottom line employees out of poverty.

Could be a better employer

Pros

Great benefits, team, flexible work schedule, hybrid/remote

Cons

Lack of organization and structure, lack of processes, no alignment between C-suite and leadership (which has been having a huge trickle-down affect), no room for growth and career advancement, lack of professional development and promoting from within), the list goes on.

Pros

Amazing people working to level the playing field with great connections in NYC

Cons

On of the co-founders is very inexperienced and as a result does not have the management skills needed to lead an organization of the size yet. This became evident to me early on during my time, but I stayed because of the mission. As a result, I received verbal feedback that contradicted the evaluation I received on my performance review, the culture of unnecessary competition was used in an attempt to leverage productivity, and the CEO over shared her personal business.
