Pros

The owners seem to really value professional development, employer health/wellbeing, and interprofessional collaboration. They reimbursed me for licenses and my certification as a Structured Literacy Classroom Teacher, and they also helped me get certified as an Assistive Technology Professional (in addition to my CCCs). They prioritized physical health during COVID-19 by closing offices, and they were always really willing to help me rework my schedule if I felt overwhelmed. Additionally, they've invited mental health experts to their staff meetings to talk about work-life balance along with other professionals. I really felt valued and supported during my time here, despite the virtual nature of things. ALSO, if you're looking to learn more about literacy disorders, this is the place! You'll have lots of literacy clients, and the owners have a really straightforward and effective program for you to implement with the clients. It was awesome to get experience in such a niche area as a new SLP!

Cons

I only ever worked teletherapy, but I suppose travel *may* be a con if you have clients at multple locations. Additionally, you're paid hourly and primarily for direct treatment (which seems pretty standard for most private practices and health care roles). Thus, you don't get paid for all the emails you send or your regular communications with parents. But the pay was definitely still worth it for me.

Pros

Professional and knowledgeable, this company and its owners strive to create a wonderful environment to grow as a professional and develop children's language skills. It was a pleasure working with this company and I would recommend working here if one is in the Washington DC/Virginia area. They service a wide variety of children, specializing in Dyslexia. The summer learning program was an experience I will never forget. The children grew so much in the summer program.

Cons

May have to drive to different places during the day.
