Pros

As a project engineer in the services department, I can work on diverse projects with many people from all over the process industry. Projects are generally well-defined and give satisfying results, both for customers and for myself. D Square management is ambitious; goals are clear and transparent. Despite the focus on growth, there is a lot of attention for the well-being of the employees. Teamwork and taking initiative are highly appreciated.

Cons

Growing a company comes with changes and high pressure from time to time. Luckily, the company is flexible enough to cope with this.

Pros

Loads of talent in the team. Which has people in it from all over the world. One of the most innovative companies you can find in Belgium. Management gives you the chance to take on responsibilities you normally would't get in a big multinational. If you have a skill that could help the company in one way or another, not even really related to your core job there's a good chance you get to use it. For me this was certainly the case. The CTO listens and takes your advice and has respect for your work. There is a point of TRANSPARENCY in the company which is one of the best things that I've seen in my career.

Cons

As the team is scaling rapidly the office is sometimes very crowded. But it's manageable.

Pros

It has had engineering culture with a good balance between responsibility and freedom. Motivated people eager to learn, who were constantly checking videos, taking courses, visited conferences (sponsored by company) and meet ups. Learned a lot using in production latest (at that point) technologies like Clojure, AngularJS, CouchDB. Challenging domain to work for (I find it interesting).

Cons

Constant micromanagement from executive guys as well as lack of technical knowledge. Lack of trust between tech and sale departments. Examples are - some technical decisions were made by business guys like using file system as database in one of core applications (which supposed to stay in prototype phase only), or over promising internally on sales plan and suddenly changing to smaller numbers 3 months after when goals were not reached. These created constant tensions between groups. Some things were just slow, like getting ssd for laptops took 12 months, etc.

Hi, Thank you for the honest review. Unfortunately growing a small business tends to come with some growing pains. Last year D square doubled in size and added some senior technical staff members exactly to cover some of those pains you mentioned. Lets hope we keep learning from our experiences. Kind regards, Hans De Leenheer VP Marketing
