Pros

- Inspiring back story driven by a great core product and brand vision. - Boundless opportunities to learn and make mistakes, whilst directly contributing to the business - Unrivalled exposure to scaling a D2C brand on a global scale across all selling channels - Amazon / Tik Tok / Web - High challenge / high support environment - inspired to do great work and push yourself out of your comfort zone. - Strong focus on people and wellbeing - Excellent benefits package from day one

Cons

- Growing pains relating to systems and processes. Sometimes a lot of ‘heavy lifting’ to get to data / information. - Collaboration - lots of initiatives requiring cross functional teams, but lack of formal project management / workshopping process causes friction. - Iterative environment means there can be pivoting between projects, resulting in start/stop of initiatives, without context.

Pros

Co-workers. They clearly have an eye for good talent

Cons

You only have to look at the fact they’ve now lost 5 members of their marketing management team (CMO included) in the last year to see there’s a major culture problem here. Reporting into the CEO is being set up to fail from the get go, he forces you to execute his ideas, exactly how he wants them, on the timescale he decides. He takes no feedback or input from the experts he has hired, and then when it inevitably doesn’t work - you take the fall for it, never him. Or it’s brushed under the rug with no acknowledgement or apology. To work at Trtl in marketing is to go against everything you know to be true and right about the discipline and throw it out the window, constantly fighting an uphill battle against management. The mood changes like the wind and with that timelines, strategy and common sense go to the wall. HR is a waste of time, exists to be a puppet and or guard dog of the senior management team. They are not on the side of the team and seem to only upset people, insulting them with constant title changes and ‘pay rises’ of circa 50p a year. Easily the worst job I’ve ever had. P.s. forcing employees into a (frankly horrible) office 3 days per week and giving them 30 mins of flexi time in the morning isn’t a modern work environment.

While it’s difficult to read, we take feedback around leadership, culture, and communication seriously – particularly as we’re committed to building and maintaining a positive and supportive culture. Pros

Amazing culture. The people are just supportive and focused on the work in a collaborative way. The teams are close-knit and easygoing but also ambitious and efficient. It was the complete opposite of the cutthroat, destructively competitive agency environments I was used to. If you want to spread your wings professionally in a safe space, this company gives you plenty of room to soar. I became extremely ill in the first few months of my employment, and they were exceedingly understanding. Compassionate management is rare and probably what makes the culture there so great. I had to leave to take care of my health, but I would recommend trtl to everyone.

Cons

There weren't a lot of glaringly obvious cons. I'd say some room for improvement in the onboarding process - but it's a small company, so it's understandable that they wouldn't have something super structured (e.g. learning videos to elaborate on the history of the business, its outlook, and company structure would have been really helpful). The office could also be a bit too quiet. Like a library. That might be a pro for some, but I definitely prefer a bit of music, some hustle and bustle, and colour in the office. But again, quiet can be a function of size as well, so that'll fix itself with company growth!
