I worked at UBS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice financial services environment to work with. People are very friendly and management is approachable.

    Cons

Salary is low, promotions are rare and as per my title, although management are approachable they are reactive. I had explained an issue for months and as I was so junior nothing was done and I left the company. It put me off the industry but in hindsight it was management that was difficult and the structure of the business rather than the role.

    Advice to Management

Discussion around promotions has to be more frequent with junior employees. Lots of smaller firms are more competitive and offer quicker progression (not necessarily with a pay packet) but at least you can see yourself as an asset.
Apprenticeship and management need to be reformed to make the scheme more competitive and make more use of your junior employees. I felt left behind and unmotivated by the end,
CA's treatment of CAA's needs to be monitored. Sometimes you felt like a PA and they often gave you bad advice,
Culture is dull. Not flexible and not innovative. Its like going back 20 years.
