Pros

Individual employees are fantastic. Great pension plan. Good benefits.

Cons

No oversight over upper level managers, once hired it is assumed they are doing everything right, the "little guy" is ALWAYS wrong. Discrimination is rampant.

Pros

Great variety of cases especially if you're looking for challenging ones to keep up your skills

Cons

1. Exorbitant parking costs that you are pretty much required to pay as CRNAs have to staff all the campuses within the city 2. No paid CEUs 3. You will be subject to timecard audits and will be heavily scrutinized by new management in an effort to cut costs instead of improving systemic inefficiencies. 4. Installment of "lead CRNAs" for micromanagement purposes. 5. New manager is vindictive, a bully, and completely incapable of performing the job. 6. Slow accrual of vacation time for the first 10 years of your career 7. Upper management will do nothing to elevate CRNAs. Instead, they have been doing everything to break them down. It's resulted in a mass exodus and deplorable morale. 8. New manager will gaslight your concerns and will continue to make up arbitrary rules that serve to further cultivate a toxic work environment.

Pros

Benefits Campus Shuttle system Views Interesting work Diversity You can stay forever...if you want

Cons

As a manager, you are of no value Directors will take credit for your efforts, in the form of hefty raises for themselves You will not get regular salary increases and in fact, will take home less after 5 years than you did in your first year HR and upper management pretend to want you to enforce policies but, when it comes down to it, will not support the process Too much worry about Gallup surveys and what the "staff" thinks. All efforts are superficial at best, to make UCSF an attractive place to work for managers. Managers must earn their bonus in the form of special goals that must be met and supported with validating documentation, spreadsheets and reports. Much of your bonus will be dependent on others doing their job. It is so much work justifying why you deserve it each year, that it isn't worth the "extra paycheck" that it amounts to. The sense of entitlement among staff that is nurtured by upper management
