Challenging Environment

Pros

The organisation is very flexible as an employer and has the resources and potential to make a difference. The people it supports are making a huge difference in communities but it's being let down.

Cons

There is a culture of sometimes overt, mostly indiscreet bullying and control. The organisation and particularly senior team fail to properly execute strategic ambitions, learn from past failures and are inexperienced which leads to insufficiently thought through decisions which have a negative impact. Complaints are not dealt with professionally, management at times are unprofessional. There are limited progression opportunities with roles going to specific types of people and resources supporting internal work.

Pros

Few positive aspects include the flexibility, remote work opportunities and friendly colleagues (which sadly is decreasing with time and many departures)

Cons

It is with disappointment that I share my experience working at this company. On the surface, it appeared to be a progressive and promising organization. However, you quickly discover a noticeable hierarchical structure within a small group which created this intense environment. Regrettably, this structure fostered exclusion, as decisions were primarily made by individuals in higher positions. It appeared that only those who aligned closely with the existing status quo and refrained from challenging it were favored and enjoyed certain benefits. I noticed recent promotions within the organization that have raised concerns regarding the suitability of the individuals for their new roles. It appears that in some cases, the promoted individuals lack the requisite skills and experience to fulfil their responsibilities effectively. The same can be said about several Directors. The Board of Trustees do not seem to get involved to challenge either or perhaps are completely ignorant of the internal storm. Working here doesn’t allow for professional progression or growth. Despite my efforts and dedication, I found little to no opportunities to advance within this organization. Many other colleagues feel the same. There is a prevalence of part-time and flexible working arrangements and many staff who stay, stay only because it is easy and convenient and not because of their drive, dedication, or commitment. This has led to a slower pace of work where productivity is incredibly low and people are allowed to do minimal work with zero intervention from management. I would caution young, enthusiastic individuals who are eager to learn, grow and progress against joining this organization. Based on my experience, the company does not provide the necessary environment or opportunities for professional development. I have experienced that many of the leaders within the organization lack experience and struggle with effectively managing and motivating their staff. There seems to be a disconnect between leadership and the employees were kept out of the decision-making process and receive updates rather than being actively involved.
