Pros

When I started at WeeCare, it was a fun, positive work environment where people worked hard and played hard. It has potential to be a good place to work again.

Cons

As the company grew, leadership lost connection with the team and the company’s purpose. In an attempt to get funding, leadership made unrealistic promises to stakeholders and then started pressuring staff to bend the truth (or flat out lie) to our partners/clients in order to meet these unrealistic metrics. Teammates were also forced to work mandatory overtime resulting in 60+ hour work weeks without any additional pay. People who comment on the unethical behavior or the degrading work conditions are met with harsh retaliation.

Pros

Wonderful individuals who are attracted to a company that is making a difference. People whose hearts are in the right place and have a passion for childcare.

Cons

Many of the top performers left the company because of terrible management and nonexistent leadership. The company “mission” of helping parents is only words on the website. We are a profit driven company, with no regard for employees, parents or providers. The daycare providers find our app and service cumbersome and rarely choose to use us more than the bare minimum. Parents are led to believe WeeCare is a ‘referral’ source since they are never informed of the 10% surcharge. The company emphasis is on achieving unrealistic goals, this takes away from any efforts to provide good customer service because we are not measured on customer service. Every week for the past year has been a “critical time”. This no longer means anything. What started as passionate team members working long hours to fulfill the company mission, has turned into people working nights and weekends to meet arbitrary goals. Any goals that appear obtainable are hastily changed to be unreachable. I assume this is management’s way of “motivating” everyone. If KPIs are not met, we are told it has nothing to do with the product. Instead, management’s insightful feedback is that “people are simply not performing well enough.” Management has repeatedly joked about employees having mental breakdowns as if “you’re not trying hard enough until you have a mental breakdown or two.” Yet, at the same time, management reprimands people for displaying anything other than a cheery attitude. We are not even allowed to post anything that is not positive on Slack, feeding a company-wide delusion that everyone is happy. Management refuses to acknowledge that there is any problem at the company. They stonewall any problems or concerns that are brought to them. They vaguely respond with either people are not working hard enough, or are TOO focused on details & overthinking things. Which is it? There is unlimited PTO but people are scared to take time off since they will likely be reprimanded or the approved time disregarded when the time comes.

Pros

They have dogs and a pretty good amount of food in the office

Cons

The leadership doesn't know what they're doing. This company is so disorganized (even for a start-up) and no one is ever on the same page. They forced overtime. Their sole focus is on numbers so they would do anything to reach them, including lying to their customers and their investors. There's no effort into customer service or even with their tech, they're just trying to get things out there regardless of quality. They also enforce this idea of positivity when I'm sure the majority of the employees are having daily mental breakdowns and are stressed out of their minds. They don't care about your well-being regardless of their persona they put out there. They don't care about their employees, they don't care about their customers, and they won't care about you.
