I have been working at VCE full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

A lot of autonomy. Pay good salaries for the right people. Get to work with some good tech. Training is very good.

    Cons

Not great at sending senior tech staff to conferences. All the decisions made over in the US.

    Advice to Management

Bring more decision making and engineering to Europe!

    I worked at VCE full-time

    Pros

Good training, good office location, some very good bright and intelligent people working there, frontline staff typically very friendly, interesting product set.

    Cons

Too much infighting and office politics among senior management. Limited career progression opportunities. The office culture could have been better.

    Advice to Management

Concentrate on developing the careers and reputations of your staff rather than just fulfilling your own ambitions. Improve the culture.

I worked at VCE full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some fantastic people whom are some of the most hard working ive had the pleasure in working with. At one time VCE could really have gone on to become a force to be reckoned with in the cloud and CI industry. The value prop is still valid and for lots of customers who want to put kit in their DCs its the best CI/HCI solution on the planet.

    Cons

On a personal level, there were no career prospects other than title promotion. No way to transition into different types of tech roles within VCE. Opportunities for serious recognition were reserved for a privileged few who were members of the 'little boys club'. This ultimately lead me to entertain offers that would progress my career. The worst personal factor was the level of effort expected from pre-sales. if you...

    Advice to Management

There isnt much i can say to the management I knew as they are totally powerless to implement any meaningful change for the better. TBH the management out of EMEA was exemplary in the matters they could deal with. Unless its comes from US corp serious company direction decision simply didn't happen. Its been my greatest career pleasure to work for VCE and help it turn into the CI behemoth it no doubt is, but also my...

    I worked at VCE

    Pros

Friendly co-worker and managers. Supports good balance between work and social life. Excellent facilities for employees working in the office. Open minded seniors that you never are hesitant to ask for help from them.

    Cons

Maybe more social events should be held so that all departments know each other better.

    I worked at VCE

    Pros

The company has great technology (converged infrastructure) which why many joined.

    Cons

    1) Life/work balance does not exist! The minute you join VE, you agree to have no life, family, friends or even pets. You will be working looong hours and come end of quarter you will be working 6-7 days a week 12-14 hours days! As for promotion, unless you are part of the "club" you are very unlikely to go too far. 2) Finally watch out for their job description, often it can be inaccurate and you might find yourself...

I have been working at VCE full-time

    Pros

Good company, benefits, great colleagues Very Intelligent people Interesting Projects Going through changes which hopefully positive

    Cons

Too many re-orgs Too much Hierachy Very process heavy Innovation ground to a halt Parent companies fighting over territory, responsibilities Parent companies driving roadmaps

    Advice to Management

Not everything has to be embedded in processes, create a team isolated from the bureaucracy and process, sole function - to innovate as a start-up

I have been working at VCE full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    > Up to date technology and hardware > Ability to cross train into different disciplines

    Cons

    > Work life balance is tough. The travel is constant and hours at clients sites are very long > Resource management isn't the best; changes are made late > Since the EMC federation it seems there are more and more levels of middle management. Constant reorganisation changes doesn't give the feeling of security

I worked at VCE for less than a year

    Pros

Can get your hands on niche technology if you are really keen and curious!

    Cons

No defined career path. Middle-Management isn't that great - selfish thinking and too old-school!!

    Advice to Management

Grow up, keep up with the times and be more involved with your employees especially when you work for company like VCE and don't rarely see your employees..
