Pros

The work is actually important and rewarding. Too bad management is the worst example of human beings I've ever encountered in a corporate environment.

Cons

I worked there for 8 months. In that time I was the highest rated employee for overall metrics including call volume for 2 of those months and was top 10 every single other month. I took every single holiday, and covered extra shifts. When my brother was coming into town 2 weeks after the fourth of July I was denied time off to see him. They give you PTO, but actually using it? HR will deny your request off for pretty much anything. Even if your brother is coming in town while on leave, and you haven't seen him in 2 years while he's off fighting for this country. $15/hr is a joke too. I got to listen to an old man shoot himself during a call and his wife found the body. I got to listen helplessly to domestic violence calls. Yes the work is rewarding in and of itself and I did make a difference while working there, but goddamn what a joke of a salary. For the stress and mental anguish that the job itself puts on you, then horrible management piles on after. QA exists only to provide an excuse to fire anyone. Despite being in the top 5% by metrics, and frankly being amazing at my job, QA would always find a way to degrade you as a human being. My favorite being two identical calls where I followed the script exactly the same with no deviation being rated in two different ways. When I asked for clarification I was brushed off. The positive reviews are fake. This place grinds through new hires. It's amazing anyone in the area is still willing to work for them tbh. Let's not forget how nasty the call center is. The rugs needed replaced 10 years ago, whole place could use a layer of paint and bleaching. I think rotting carpet is the dominant small of the place tbh. Advancement is not going to happen there. No matter how well you perform, you will never be moved up. They will hire someone outside the company, and never, ever promote from within.

First, thank you for your feedback. We are and have always been committed to understanding how we can do better as a company to support our team members and the parents and grandparents we are entrusted to serve. Like you, we agree that the work we have a privilege to do is both important and rewarding. We’d welcome the opportunity to talk to better understand your experience with PTO, QA, compensation, and the office so that we can improve both for you and the rest of the team. We know that our team members are our most valuable asset, which is why - In addition to investing back into the team with both hourly increases and bonuses in just the past three months - nearly 10% of the team has been promoted in the past year. Still, we know we can always do better and look forward to connecting to better understand your perspective. Please contact Employee Support at any time, and we will be happy to set up a call.

Pros

There is not much to say here other then it's a job. You get a paycheck. The monitoring center does an okay job.

Cons

A once proud company with a reputable name in the market has fallen apart. The young executives who lead this organization are immature and heartless. Management routinely fires their employees without warning or justification. They do not care about you, your family, or their subscribers. The company has become a place where it's only about the numbers and whether they look good for their investors and board members. This company will turn on you in a heartbeat if it benefits upper management and makes them look good. There is absolutely no transparency and management will lie right to your face. VRI supposedly stands for valued relationships Inc. Those values state that VRI treats their employees like family and employees are children taking care of parents and grandparents. They also preach doing the right thing when no one is watching. It's all fake. At one time these values actually meant something but that is no longer the case. This company has gone downhill ever since their founder left. Dysfunction, service delivery issues, constant turnover, and dishonesty are the "new VRI".
