Cons

You have to put in a lot of work the first few years to make good money.

I love my job...

Pros

I love the travel perks, the positive work environment, no micro managing, unlimited earning potential, working from home, amazing bonuses and that upper management is easily accessible. They are always open to new ideas and implementing changes when suggestions make sense. There is a decent benefits package and 401k. I have found it fairly easy to make 6-figures year after year.... I have a very strong work ethic and 20+ years of sales experience, so that helps, but anyone can do well in this position if they put in the effort.

Cons

The schedule for newbies is not ideal. I wish we would not be penalized for customer service assisting our clients when we are on company approved vacation time. It can be challenging to have a work life balance if you want to make 6-figures. I feel bad for people that have to work from the office because reading some of these reviews, it seems there are a lot of negative/complaining people. When I took this job, I ignored all of that and stayed positive - it has served me very well!

Pros

I have had the good fortune of working for VTG the past 14 years. Great place to work and great compensation/benefits. If you are lucky enough to work at VTG, take it seriously, make the commitment. Look at this as a long term career (not just a job) that you will be at for many years. There is success and stability in your life to be found here. Pros include - Friendly, positive work environment. - Real opportunity to make a 6 figure income and bonuses. You will build your own client base of repeat business. Take care of your customers, be friendly and upbeat, they will not just book with you once, they will book with you over and over again AND refer their friends, family, neighbors, etc. With time, you will have more repeat customers calling in to book than you could ever imagine. - Plenty of leads and customers. You will not be out prospecting, cold calling and looking for customers. Clients are readily available. VTG does all the marketing for you to keep the customers calling in to book cruises. - Opportunity to work overtime, make extra money if needed. - Great training and support from management. From HR, training managers, team leaders, upper management, their goal is for you to succeed and they are there to help you. Your success is their success. - Benefits package - health insurance, 401k with match, etc. HR also reviews the benefits every year to make sure we are getting the best benefits possible. - Ability to move up in the company. You can stay as a "worker bee" or look further up into management. The company promotes from within. - Fun events for employees and their families throughout the year - Many, many travel opportunities at a discounted rate.

Cons

One "con" that throws people off is working on commission. Don't let this be a deterrent. There are so many leads/customers and ways to make money at VTG that you will be grateful you are on commission and not making an hourly wage. The only real con would be when you first start working at VTG you will work nights, weekends, etc. With tenure you will be offered a more "normal" schedule.

Pros

There are some smarter people here than the company deserves, with much more loyalty than the company shows them.

Cons

It was common knowledge in the company that the person in charge of my former department got the job through her inappropriate relationship with a member of upper management. The same member of upper management was known for making inappropriate comments to other women employees at company events. Of the various roles I've held, this one had the least value for my career growth.

We appreciate your feedback. Please know that we take accusations such as these very seriously. Our human resource team is always available if a coworker on any level has made you uncomfortable for any reason. We have not been made aware of any incidents at this time, and we highly encourage employees to come forward if they have something to report. The employee you’re referring to has been with Vacations To Go over 19 years and has been promoted through various departments by various members of management through the years. Team members are reviewed on an annual basis, where both strengths and areas for improvement are discussed. An employee is never promoted off a single manager’s perspective, but instead is evaluated off the input from a number of managers that work closely with that employee. We have found this to be a very successful approach in employee evaluation. Thank you for your time, and we wish you all the best.

Pros

If you're on a good team, good at sales, and don't mind working odd hours you can make good money. They promote from within so you don't have to worry about some 22-year-old with a MBA and no real work experience becoming your next boss.

Cons

I got laid off in early Covid and it was the best thing that could have happened to me. I honestly thought it was fine here until I left and saw how a decent company actually treats its employees. You have to wait 6 months to qualify for benefits and even after you do, the health insurance is so expensive that I don't know how anyone who works here has a family unless they have a spouse with decent insurance. It was always a "flex" at VTG if you were married or a veteran because you could get much better health insurance elsewhere for cheaper. The vacation time is also a joke. If you're commission based it's unpaid because there is no base salary. Salaried employees fare better in that regard, but even then you only get two weeks and they'll throw a hissy fit and usually reject your time off if you try and take more than one week at a time. After I left I couldn't believe it when not only did I have no issues getting my time off approved, but upper management actively encouraged using our vacation time (and taking long trips during slow season) because news flash - employees who feel valued and who aren't burnt out make better employees. If you're working here and have half a brain, stop selling yourself short and LEAVE. I promise that better is out there.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences regarding your time at VTG. We understand that the COVID-19 pandemic was a challenging time for everyone, and we regret that we had to furloughed many of our employees during that period. We strive to support our employees during difficult times and provide them with necessary resources. Regarding the eligibility period for benefits, employees are eligible for benefits the first of the month after 60 days. We continuously evaluate our benefits package to ensure it meets the needs of our employees while remaining competitive within the industry. This year, we have added a new preventative health benefit in conjunction with our primary health insurance coverage at no out-of-pocket cost to our employees. This benefit is designed to provide valuable preventive care services to our employees, whether they choose to opt into our company-provided major medical insurance or not. This additional benefit aims to promote early detection and proactive healthcare management. Concerning vacation time, we recognize the importance of work-life balance and understand the need for adequate time off. Our policy grants a continuous stretch of two weeks away from work, provided that there is adequate staffing coverage and the employee has accrued or will accrue the time off prior to the dates requested. We strongly encourage all employees to promptly submit their time off requests as soon as they become aware of their desired dates, ensuring a smooth approval process. We are sorry to hear that you felt unsupported during your time at VTG. Employee satisfaction is a priority for us, and we aim to create an environment where our employees feel valued, appreciated and can enjoy vacation time. Thank you for your contribution to VTG during your employment, and we wish you the best in your future endeavors.
