SEO Copywriting & Social Media Review
Pros
I have learnt a lot about copywriting and social media management in my time here, with many varied clients that have introduced me to subjects I may never have looked into otherwise. I have been able to hone my writing talents and have grown in confidence when talking to clients, which was always a tough thing for me before. The office atmosphere is mostly positive, with a lot of the office getting involved in jokes or conversations, but can be a bit uncomfortable at times. I have met some very wonderful and talented people here that have become good friends, as have some clients, and I will miss working with them all on a day-to-day basis. I have been through a lot in my personal life while I was working here and always felt supported by teammates and other people in the company. I was allowed to attend counselling sessions (had to make the time up, though) and was given some allowances when my mental health was suffering.
Cons
Creative expression is limited, especially when it comes to our own material. Office atmosphere can be tense or awkward at times, making even work-based conversation awkward. Management did not handle complaints of inappropriate behaviour against another employee in a remotely satisfactory way, leading to a loss of trust. There is no investment in employees, their wellbeing or their training, yet high expectations that at times can be a struggle to meet. No career progression/no promotions. Starting roles are arguably underpaid, especially in terms of graduate jobs. Support for mental health was positive up until a point, whereafter I was told that my work performance (which was suffering due to a stint of ill mental health) was not good enough and I was repeatedly asked to consider leaving the company.
