Pros

- Good benefits - Very nice offices - Great IT support (important) - Easy access to data (extremely important) - Excellent data engineering for a large corporation - Very good datasets - GCP (google cloud platform) - Local admin for your laptop - Bigquery etc. - Nice and skilled people below management - Less silos when compared to the big four banks - One month working from anywhere but excluding many countries for no good reason

Cons

- Extremely fast paced - High turnover of data people - Xenophobic, abusive and rude senior managers - Verbally abusive (occasionally border line bullying) - Unrealistic deadlines which are NOT set by you but given to you by stakeholders or your managers - Compromise quality for meeting deadlines - It's all about pleasing and praising the higher management with numbers - Data people are treated as second class citizens - Data people from ethnic minorities are treated as third class citizens - Monocultural mid and high management (some times racist) - Fake Agile practice which will burn you out - Overtimes, overtimes, overtimes - Low salaries compare to the market - 16% bonus is a joke, as they never pay up to that level, not even close. So it's actually better to have a higher base than having a high level of bonus - Managers look down on their employees - No real changes after VOT (Voice of team surveys) - You will be targeted for speaking out - Managers make false promises about your career progression. I.e. they will drag it out as long as they can until you realise they are lying - Career framework is for keeping you at where you are, not for progressing your career. I.e. managers can always find something you are lacking from the framework hence NOT progressing you - People take credits for your work without acknowledging you - Abusive stakeholders who "massage" the numbers - Strong favouritism - A culture of "fake until you make it", i.e. a lot of "lip service" - Funding of data (project) headcounts largely depends on the "operations", hence pleasing the operations is the way of things in data - Famous saying in the company: "all roads lead to the operations"

Pros

Big name for the resume. Working from home. Google tools are great. Powerful product practice.

Cons

Horrendous nepotism. Under qualified friends of senior leaders are brought in as coaches, management roles and “Transformation Partners” and have effectively ruined delivery and the Agile community. Artificial senior titles are created to keep the plebs happy while they fix the mess created by leadership.
