Pros

Your peers are mostly great. Nice view of the lake. Great knowledge about the insurance industry at your fingertips. No other pros

Cons

There are a lot of cons. 1. Unless you're "cliquey" with the management don't expect a shot at progression. 2. If you're a hard worker with a decent set of morals, and don't shut up about their immoral and unethical practises, expect to be shoved out of employment as soon as you make a mistake. 3. Performance based salary system means you'll work hard for good pay, but you will need to do dodgy things to get it. The system is rigged. High performers are doing dodgy things to get good pay- and if they're in the good books with management nothing happens to them except a slap on the wrist. 4. If you insist on doing things by the book, expect to be paid minimum. 5. Your work will not be rewarded 6. You managers will come down on you like a ton of bricks for not performing well, but it's impossible to perform to their very high standards without lying to the customer and doing dodgy things to get the sale. 7. Their way of getting the sale is to get the clients credit card details. Unless the customer calls, their credit card will be debited on the day of policy inception, regardless of whether they wanted it or not. If the client is lucky, they'll get their money back within 5-7 days...... IF the retention advisor even enters the policy (they're on performance based salary too) 8. Management is cliquey. 9. Dodgy reporting to ASIC

Pros

Fantastic training provided. Great working hours, only work one Saturday every three weeks.

Cons

I don’t even know where to start. The lies start from the very beginning. At the interview they paint an elegant picture of how much you can earn and the rewards you will get ..... All Lies. Be careful as they neglect to tell you that you salary is inclusive of Super. You need a bachelor degree to understand their commission structure and don’t expect to make any real money until three months after you have started. However what they don’t tell you once you have finished training is the near impossible to avoid mine field of compliance traps which are designed to penalise your commission which you will wear for a very long time. Management are inexperienced and have no accountability. They prance around acting like they have some sort of moral compass however when their back is to the wall, they are the first to throw you under the bus. The Micromanagement is the worst I have ever experienced and boarders on workplace harassment. You feel like you are on a Hamster wheel every day as they do not let you stray to far away from their scripting for nearly 95% of the call interaction. You feel like you are serving a prison sentence rather then a valued career. Youi have not had a good track record of compliance as they have been investigated by the ACCC in recent years for very fraudulent sales techniques. However they have now gone from one extreme to the other, from using dodgy sales tactics to a highly controlled, highly micromanaging work environment which detracts from any human element. What is left are employees with High Anxiety and Depression.
