I joined CurrencyFair looking for a reprieve of the corporate world and move to a startup adventure which promised to take on the banking system and allow customers to control their own foreign exchange. A couple of years later, it’s still a promising product. However, the company lacks vision and it’s constant avoidance of risk has resulted in other companies completely overshadowing CurrencyFair and limiting it's market share. I’ve learned a great deal in my time in CurrencyFair. Firstly, always have your team’s back. Secondly, the startup grass is not always greener. Those at the helm are lacking leadership and people skills and have failed to clearly and concisely communicate at every possible opportunity. Every positive aspect for working at CurrencyFair has slowly been stripped away over the last year. The distance that CurrencyFair now needs to travel to make it a viable company is perhaps too great a journey.
