Pros

The company has been growing steadily since I joined over a year ago. There have definitely been growing pains (usually related to having enough staff available to keep the workload manageable). Still, the company is definitely responsive to needs identified by staff. For example, we were outgrowing our old office, and the company secured a new office space twice the size, but it was a slightly longer walk from the metro. To address this, the company offered commuter benefits to reduce commuting cost for staff. Despite the growing pains, the people are excellent. I've already had a few global travel opportunities, and I've been given a lot of ownership of my projects and client relationships

Cons

The pay is at/around market rates. It's not lavish here, but I have a bit of security knowing that the company is profitable and stable.

Pros

I worked with some very bright, talented people and there was a lot of opportunity to learn new skill sets. The casual work environment is a big perk. When things are going well with your projects, the camaraderie is great. I had very formative and helpful experiences with the managers who were interested in my career growth, and I'm very grateful for the work experience I gained.

Cons

Some managers occasionally took an us vs. them mentality against their employees. You're expected to demonstrate loyalty to the company, but that's not necessarily reciprocated. If you decide to take a position at mProve, I recommend a few things: First, grow a thick skin so you can tolerate some unkind behavior. Next, ask for a clear job description and get every aspect of your employment, including benefits, in writing. In general, you'll need to be a self-advocate for promotions, pay raises, and a fair work distribution--it's unlikely that someone else will do that for you, and you're going to have to ask a lot more than once to see results. All that said, I hope that the acquisition will improve some of these issues. I imagine that some of the bad management I experienced wouldn't be acceptable that mProve is part of a larger company.
