We know that some of our people balance their work with caring responsibilities. We recognise that carers' needs can be different from those who with childcare responsibilities; and that the responsibilities of each carer are unique. At Correla we are committed to equal opportunity for all our people so today we are introducing a number of initiatives aimed specifically at our people who have caring responsibilities. This includes, amongst others, short notice leave for emergencies; flexibility to take emergency phone calls; pick up medication; working with line managers to provide information/training and education
Over the past year, there have many of us who have lost friends and family; not just to COVID, but it has certainly exacerbated it. We have therefore been reflecting on how we can support those who find themselves in this awful situation. Therefore we have reviewed our bereavement and compassionate leave guidelines, and updated them. In particular, we have looked at our parental leave guidance, and ensured it covers miscarriage and stillbirth. We appreciate this is a sensitive and difficult time; we also fully appreciate that every person’s situation is different and the required observances of different religions vary. So we have decided not to be prescriptive, but simply have guidelines. We also offer counselling and have also introduced Grief First Aiders
At Correla, we know that all families are different. That is why we are removing maternity, partner and adoption leave and replacing it with 26 weeks paid Parent Leave for any of our people, regardless of gender. This includes birth, adoption, fostering and surrogacy.

For some years now, we have had a principle of “locate for your day”, well ahead of the new hybrid model that is now more prevalent post COVID. We have now taken this a step further and turned our office space into a collaborative space. One of our People Operations team took this of her working location this morning. Those beautiful blue skies weren’t taken in some exotic and sunny holiday destination - but in Solihull! #locateforyourday #workanywhere #connectwithcorrela #solihull #correla
We are thrilled to share that we have three of our people short-listed for awards with Future Faces Chamber of Commerce next month. A massive achievement for Tom Smith for being short-listed for Apprentice of the Year and also Jagjevan Sidhu and Kiranjit Kaur Shergill for making the Technology and Innovation final shortlist.
Today we've introduced new Grief First Aiders as part of our widening support for Mental Health. Loss, bereavement and grief is part of everyday life. Dealing with loss and talking about grief/bereavement is often extremely difficult to do. Over the last 16 months we recognised that some of our people lost family members, friends, partners, even colleagues - much of which was unexpected and sudden. Therefore we wanted to offer additional support by having a team of trained Grief First Aiders to be there for our colleagues who are having to navigate loss and may need someone to talk to in confidence. Everyone is different and each set of circumstances unique but no one has to go through alone. A massive thank you to Alan Dovey and Paul Anthony at Working Minds, working-minds.org.uk for their fantastic training in support of this initiative.
