We were pleased to see our CEO Graham Prothero quoted in last week’s Mail on Sunday as housebuilders call for increased support for lower income purchasers. We are pleased to announce the launch of a shared ownership scheme across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire in partnership with heylo. The scheme enables customers to purchase a percentage of their new home upfront before paying the remainder of the amount in monthly payments, and is being rolled out across our regions in the coming weeks and months. This represents one of a number of steps we have taken to broaden our potential customer pool and proposition, including our recent branding and marketing refresh. Yesterday, the Government announced that the National Living Wage will rise by 10%, from £10.42 to £11.44 an hour, from April 2024. As the largest ever NLW increase, this is a critical step in providing much needed additional capital for lower income workers. With an increased income, the hope is that this will provide a meaningful boost for the affordable housing sector, with 2.7 million people nationally due to benefit, making home ownership more attainable. Introducing our 2023 cohort of Apprentice Bricklayers! 🧱️👷♂️ We are excited to announce that Gleeson has chosen the NHBC Hub in Hull as the venue for our Apprentices to carry out their studies. The apprentices will receive onsite training at designated sites and attend the Hub for block release. Sharon Jarvis, Learning and Development Manager, expressed her enthusiasm, stating: "It is great to see the NHBC training hub in Hull welcome the first cohort of Gleeson Apprentice Bricklayers. With its purpose-built facilities mirroring real on-site working conditions, our apprentice bricklayers will spend their initial five weeks honing their core skills. They will then return to the site, applying what they have learned. Gleeson site teams, along with our dedicated Early Talent Co-ordinator, Deborah Lindsay, will provide continuous support throughout the programme." #apprenticeship #gleesonhomes #earlytalent #bricklaying
