We're proud to share our latest community initiative in Withernsea, East Yorkshire. Through our Community Matters programme, Gleeson Homes has sponsored the launch of the Withernsea Flower and Gardening Club, founded by local resident Irene Mounter-Firth. The club is a friendly place where local people can come together, learn about gardening, and have fun. It meets once a month at The Meridian Centre – just a short distance from our Sands Reach development – with gardening talks, plant sales, and plenty of tea and cake! Yesterday marks the beginning of Mental Health Awareness Week 2025, and this year, we're focusing on ways to address and reduce anxiety. Throughout the week, our HR team will be sharing valuable insights with all of our colleagues, including how to recognise the signs of anxiety and practical ways to support yourself if you're experiencing these feelings. We are also encouraging everyone at Gleeson to explore their Gleesave wellbeing discounts, which provide access to resources that support both physical and mental health, such as healthy eating and gym memberships, all of which can help ease anxiety. In addition, we're hosting a 'Self-Help Challenge,' inviting everyone to set aside a little time each day to prioritise relaxation and self-care. Great to see Gleeson featured twice in this month’s issue of Housebuilder Media on the challenges posed by Biodiversity Net Gain and an interview with Layla Atkinson one of our bricklaying apprentices around Women in Construction Week and International Women’s Day. Both represent key issues facing the sector, with BNG impacting the number of planning consents granted and new houses built, and apprentices being the future for new skills in the sector.
Congratulations to Brian Corrin, our Construction Director in Cumbria, for successfully passing his Level 7 NVQ Diploma in Construction Senior Management. This is an amazing achievement and testament to Brian’s commitment and hard work alongside his day-to-day work. Frazer Thompson, Regional Managing Director, presented Brian with his certificate to congratulate him on this outstanding achievement.
