We have a responsibility to support the well-being of our employees across the business. Supporting our employees' mental health, both inside and outside of the workplace, is essential – and a number of tools and initiatives have been introduced at Lidl, aimed at doing exactly that. Happy International Women's day to our colleagues across the business!
Following a successful trial last year, we’re excited to announce that we’ll be rolling out new ‘Fun Size Trolleys’ for kids across our UK stores. This is part of our commitment to engaging children in the food shop and healthy eating. The trolleys are named after our Oaklands Fun Size range – miniature versions of ordinary fruit and vegetable varieties – which were designed as a creative way for parents to encourage their children to eat five a day. The range launched in 2016 and we currently have over 14 products, including ‘Avodillo’s (baby avocados), Broccoli Trees and Unicorn carrots. We understand it’s the Lidl things that can make a big difference! With tons of exciting new projects on the go for 2019 and beyond, there’s never been a better time to join Lidl GB. Ritchie left a competitor to join one of our store management teams, before becoming a warehouse Assistant Team Manager. Find out more about his journey so far and what it takes to lead a warehouse team at Lidl GB: http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vMaxm
In the lead up to the opening of our brand-new Doncaster Distribution Centre, our regional team organised a family & friends open day. Colleagues invited their nearest and dearest into the warehouse for a tour, food and drinks, face painting and games – including an 80 ft obstacle course and bouncy castle! A raffle and cake sale also raised over £360 for our national charity partner, the NSPCC. Over 500 people attended the day and it’s fair to say that it was a resounding success. We’d like to thank the Doncaster team for all their hard work in setting up the warehouse, and wish them the very best, now operations have begun!
Store Manager Stuart from our Wednesbury region fused his passion for the NSPCC with his love for running, taking part in the Kitzbühel Gamstrail Trail Run in September last year. The event began with a 20km run, which climbed 1,270m across the Austrian Alpine Tyrol region. After securing a spot and successfully completing the altitude challenge, Stuart took part in a 22km hike, climb and scramble to the summit of Rastkogel mountain in the Tux Alps, a dizzying 2,762m above sea level. Fantastic job Stuart!
