✨ What a night! ✨ Last month we brought together 1,000 incredible Lidl GB colleagues from our stores, warehouses, and offices all under one roof for a night of glitz and glamour at our second National Achievement Awards. With teams travelling from every corner of Great Britain (and enjoying a well‑earned night away in London!), the atmosphere was electric from the moment the doors opened. We kicked off with a welcome reception and trapeze act, followed by dinner, and plenty of dancing. 🎶 But beyond the sparkle, the focus of the evening was commending our people and the phenomenal achievements they’ve made this year. We recognised the powerhouse teams, the individual superstars, and the true Lidl Legends who make Lidl GB a force to be reckoned with. From our Lidl Values categories to the coveted Store & Warehouse of the Year - we celebrated it all. A huge congratulations to all our nominees and winners. 👏 And thank you to our colleagues who organised such a wonderful occasion. Let’s raise a toast to #teamlidl!🥂💙❤️💛
A huge moment for Lidl GB. We’ve officially become Britain’s fifth largest supermarket. 🥳 From opening our first store in 1994 to now seeing more than 3 in 5 households shop with Lidl, this milestone says something powerful about how Britain shops today. Customers are choosing quality, value and ease - and we’re incredibly proud to be earning a place in more and more weekly shops across the country. 🛒 This achievement belongs to our store teams, warehouse and office colleagues, suppliers and partners, whose hard work makes Lidl GB what it is every single day. And of course… to the millions of customers who continue to shop with us. 👏 THANK YOU! 💙💛❤️
At Lidl GB, we celebrate the moments that matter to our colleagues and that meant coming together for Eid. 💛 As Eid is a time for sharing and connecting, we hosted a 'chai & chat' event in our ‘Middle of Lidl’ atrium space. Our office was filled with the aroma of teas and freshly baked treats as teams gathered to enjoy specialty rusks and biscuits. 🍵🍪 We also had two Henna artists on hand who created beautiful, intricate designs for some of our colleagues 🤲 - a meaningful way to mark the occasion and experience a tradition cherished by many. Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating. Eid Mubarak to all who observe. 🌙✨
Big news for our colleagues across Lidl Ireland today! We’ve just announced an €11m investment in pay increases across the Republic, alongside a further £2.3m for our operations in Northern Ireland. Starting March 1st, all colleagues across the island will see the benefits of this latest boost. At Lidl, we stay ahead of the curve. Since 2022, we have invested over €58m in pay rises, resulting in a cumulative increase of approximately 27.5%. We were the first major nationwide employer to commit to paying the Living Wage back in 2015, and we have proudly maintained or exceeded that rate for the last decade. Our latest increase ensures we meet the 2026 recommended Living Wage. For the sixth year running, we have been recognised by the Top Employers Institute as a Top Employer for 2026. #LidlIreland #TeamLidl #MoreToValue
We’ve just been ranked the best supermarket in the Financial Times Top Employers 2026! 🥇🛒 We’re the highest‑paying UK supermarket, the only one to make it into the FT’s top 150 employers and one of the few companies to make the list two years in a row. This recognition reflects something we pride ourselves on: bringing more to value to our colleagues. ❤️💛💙 This marks the second major employer accolade we’ve picked up already this year, coming hot on the heels of being named a Top Employer for the fifth time in a row by the Top Employers Institute. Plus, we earned the Enterprise Seal for outstanding HR standards across 31 Lidl countries. Not bad for only being 2 months into 2026! 🙌
🎉 Big news for our Lidl GB family 🎉 We’re doubling our paid paternity leave! Here’s what’s changing: 🔹 Colleagues will receive a 100% increase in their current paternity leave entitlement 🔹 The entitled leave will be offered at full pay 🔹 After 5 years of service, this entitlement doubles again 🔹 Colleagues can split their leave into two separate periods, giving them the flexibility to use it at any point during their baby’s first year This announcement builds on the progress we’ve already made. Just two years ago, we doubled our maternity and adoption leave, becoming a market leader by offering 6 months of full pay. Today’s update is another milestone in supporting our colleagues when they need it most. We’re proud to make this investment and show how much we value our people. ❤️💛💙
Join Britain’s highest-paying supermarket 🙌 Today, we’re investing a further £29m in colleague pay - supporting over 35,000 colleagues across Great Britain. From 1st March, Lidl GB is set to become Britain’s highest-paying supermarket and the only one to pay the Real Living Wage nationwide, alongside the London Living Wage. What that means for our colleagues: 👉 Entry-level pay rises to £13.45 per hour nationally, increasing to £14.45 with length of service. 👉 In London, pay rises to £14.80, increasing to £15.30 over time. As the UK’s fastest-growing bricks-and-mortar supermarket for over two years, we know one thing for certain: growth only happens because of the dedication of our colleagues in stores, warehouses and offices. Rewarding that contribution isn’t just good business - it’s the right thing to do.
Live, Laugh, Lidl 🏳🌈 At Lidl GB, Pride isn’t simply a moment in the calendar – it’s about listening, learning, and making sure everyone feels safe, seen, and celebrated. Live, Laugh, Lidl, celebrates that everything is better when you can truly live your truth, find a great reason to laugh with your friends and family – and of course, when shopping at Lidl! 🛒 And this year, we’re showing up louder and prouder, and taking that message to more cities than ever before, as well as our stores, offices and regional distribution centres – making sure Pride is felt in every corner of our business. After a fantastic start to Pride season in Exeter, we’ll be heading to Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh and London – and we’re bringing the Lidl sparkle back to Mighty Hoopla too ✨ We’re especially proud to once again be joined by the NSPCC at this year’s events, uniting in our commitment to inclusion, safety, and support for LGBTQ+ communities 💚 From sharing stories to offering real tools for allyship, we’re building a culture of belonging where everyone feels safe, seen, and celebrated – all year round. More to come. More to celebrate. Let’s live, laugh and Lidl – with Pride! ❤️ 💛 💚 💙 💜
This afternoon we had the pleasure of welcoming both the UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, and Chancellor Rt Hon Rachel Reeves to our Tottenham Court Road store where they spent time speaking with our colleagues on the shop floor. They were hosted by our CEO, Ryan McDonnell, who shared how Lidl GB is supporting both British producers and customers in today’s fast-moving retail landscape. The visit came hot off the heels of positive news for the agri-food sector – a commitment to a new UK-EU SPS agreement that will make trade smoother and more efficient across borders. At Lidl GB, we’re proud to be a bridge in both directions – helping British suppliers take their products to new markets across Europe, while also bringing the best of European food and drink to shoppers here in Great Britain. We warmly welcome the Government’s commitment to improving trading relationships. This is a real opportunity to unlock growth, cut red tape, and bring much-needed efficiency to the supply chains we all rely on. A huge thanks to #teamlidl at Tottenham Court Road for being such fantastic hosts – and for showing what Lidl GB is all about and, of course, to the Prime Minister and Chancellor for taking the time to visit and see our teams in action!
We’ve signed the Social Recruitment Covenant! We’ve signed a commitment to change! ✒️ Back in November 2024, the Social Recruitment Covenant was launched in Parliament and Lidl GB’s Director Sponsor of Social Mobility, Craig Stewart, spoke about our passion for breaking down the barriers into employment. By tapping into overlooked talent, organisations can open doors to more people facing barriers into employment and bring in diverse colleagues from all walks of life. Whilst we signed the covenant virtually 6 months ago, it’s fantastic to have a copy of it which can now be displayed, solidifying our commitment to inclusive recruitment and employment practices. It’s something we really are so proud of 🤝
