What better way to celebrate Halloween than doing a scavenger hunt? 🎃🕵️♀️ Recently, our team in Malaysia dashed off in their most outrageously creative Halloween outfits to do an Amazing Race spin-off to celebrate the spooky day. After enjoying a team dinner and a quick photo session, the team had to gobble down ice cream, strut down the skating rink like it's a fashion show, recreate the epic chess scene from Harry Potter, and engage in a comical marshmallow game at the nearby mall while dressed up in the quirkiest costumes you can imagine – all in the name of completing this unforgettable race. 🍦🚶♂️🕺 We must admit, we found the Slack app with 99 unread messages pretty scary! 🎃 👻 🧛 Luno's Halloween Hackathon 🎃👻🧛 Luno’s 3rd Hackathon of the year was this week, the theme was: ✨ Innovating crypto capabilities to empower our customers ✨ I joined up with dream team members Vorster Naude & Candice M.. Our project was exploring how Luno would start offering "Copy a Trader" functionality, so that users can mirror the trades of the top-performing traders, some screenshots are below. We were elated to win both 3rd place🥉, decided by the judges, and the community prize, voted for by the viewers of the hackathon. Both these prizes generously entailed some BTC to be shared between us. I do love doing something completely different for a couple of days: it keeps my mind fresh, and I'm always learn new skills at Hackathons! This particular hack included learning about: - 🎨 a great Go package for logging in colour: https://lnkd.in/eYGnbRd7 - 🎚️ audio levelling & fading when video editing - 💬 pros + cons of various text-to-speech generators - 💱 a better understanding of competitors in the copy trading space I’m now looking forward to the 4th and final hackathon of the year next month!

We asked Christian, a key member of the winning team, to share his thoughts on the experience: "As a ‘business guy’, it was great to closely work with some of our brilliant engineers and a Product Manager for a couple of days. It felt like working in a tiny startup again and everyone brought completely different skills to the table to create something exciting, feasible and viable. Often, the working prototypes we present can’t be reused when bringing the actual product or service innovation to our customers, but they are incredibly powerful to drive alignment around the vision and accelerate the journey to delivery.
