Inclusion Tip #3: Acknowledge your privilege Recognising that you have certain privileges can be uncomfortable. It's important to remember that by acknowledging these privileges, you can use your voice to advocate for others too. Inclusion Tip #2: Avoid assumptions Whether through conscious or unconscious decisions, our views impact our behaviors and the way in which we interact with others. We all make assumptions about others, particularly if someone belongs to a group which we don't. Recognising and challenging our own assumptions is a good way to help create a more inclusive environment. Learn about the impact of the assumptions you make. https://blogs.lse.ac.uk/equityDiversityInclusion/2011/09/making-assumptions-what-does-it-mean-in-practise/
We're focused on inclusion this February and we'd like to finish this month by sharing our top tips (over the next few days) for helping to create a more inclusive world. Inclusion Tip #1: Be mindful in your communication If you're going to take just one action with you, we urge you to listen more and speak carefully. Our words can often create misunderstanding or conflict, so taking time to think about what you say and truly engage with is a good first step. Learn how you can be more inclusive through language.
Cultural awareness and belonging are key to any successful business. In a topical Harvard Business Review article the authors state the value of belonging at work: "If workers feel like they belong, companies reap substantial bottom-line benefits. High belonging was linked to a whopping 56% increase in job performance, a 50% drop in turnover risk, and a 75% reduction in sick days." We recognise the importance of cultural awareness and belonging in a work environment and are always striving to make this better.

These stereotypes can hold us all back from creating a more inclusive world. There are things you can do to help break the stereotypes and work to engage with those around you more positively. Learn how you can rid yourself of the stereotypes you might not even realise you have, in the blog below.
