We recently hosted a Hands on Science Day for 100 students and their teachers from local schools at our Malvern site. The day consisted of a series of workshops to encourage students to consider a career in Science and Engineering. We were honoured that Nick Houghton, the Mayor of Worcestershire, came to see the students and present the prizes. He commented, "It was my pleasure to be invited to QinetiQ to understand what they are doing to reach out to the vast pool of talent we can find in our local schools and colleges. Following last month’s International Women’s Day 2023 celebrations, we invited the Women in Defence winner of the QinetiQ sponsored Innovation & Creativity Award, Dr Alison Hawks, to join us to share her experiences and participate in a Q&A via two exclusive webinar sessions. Dr Alison Hawks was named the Woman of the Year for Innovation & Creativity, for her work setting up the Common Mission Project UK, an education focused charity, which she co-founded in 2019 and drove its growth as a start-up charity. Dr Alison Hawks is the CEO of BMNT, Ltd., an innovation consultancy that delivers rapid capability acquisition in defence and national security.
