“One thing I’ve quickly noticed since joining UW, is that no one day is the same. I’ve been the Head of EUX (End User Experience) for five months now, and my team’s role at UW is to support our employees and ensure that if they encounter any IT issues, we can get them back up and running quickly. My favourite project at UW so far has to be setting up the new Tech Bar in our Head Office, which offers a walk-up experience for anyone onsite to get support with their IT issues. It’s a one-stop shop for all our IT queries. Outside of work, I love to travel and learn new recipes from around the world. Recently in Thailand, I did a Thai cooking class with my children. I’m also married to a DJ, so I’ve also been to some fun parties all over the world with him - my favourite being the Monaco Grand Prix. I have a crazy dog called Lillie who is nearly nine years old but still has the energy of a puppy. She loves snow and will cry at the door until we let her out - I love walking her around the Surrey Hills. Della is Head of EUX (End User Experience) and has been with UW for 5 months now 💜

Our Chief Data and AI Officer, Didier Vila, was recently featured in an article highlighting our use of a data mesh, analytics, and AI to boost customer and Partner experiences. With the Google Cloud partnership, we are building and continuously improving our data footprint, which will support us in conjunction with our overall current Tech Ecosystem to reach our target of adding 1 million new customers. For instance, we built a custom AI model monitoring tool called Heimdall. The data mesh concept will enable all departments to create their own "data products" and expose them to other parts of the business, resulting in a faster and more flexible data architecture. Didier sums it up best: "We wanted to accelerate the culture of analytics throughout the company and become much more data-driven in how we make our decisions and go about things. Building a data platform with Google Cloud was pivotal to this process."
Talk about a milestone - We took home Company of the Year at the PLC Awards last week 🏆🥳 It truly is a testament to all of the hard work of our amazing Employees and Partners throughout 2022, helping the nation #SaveABundle 💜 #PLCAwards

“In the 10 months that I’ve been at UW, I’ve had some amazing opportunities and been involved with some epic projects that have supported our whole company. My biggest highlight so far has been the recent launch of Spark; a new mindset that enables us all to connect, learn and grow to fulfil our ambitions. Spark helps us create a learning offering, experience, and the career opportunities that make people want to work, and stay at UW. What I love most about my team is the trust we have built. Everyone brings their whole self to work and is comfortable sharing their opinions and thoughts, which challenges us and enables us to develop better solutions. A big shout-out goes to Katie, Lexie, and Georgina for their creative and fresh ideas towards learning and development at UW. In my spare time, I like to keep busy! I love sleight-of-hand magic such as card tricks and I’m also really into bouldering (indoor climbing) - it’s a fun way to keep active. Rich is a Senior Learning Product Owner and has been with UW for 10 months now 💜
At UW, one of our main priorities is to build a great culture and environment for our people to grow 🙌 Our Marketing Director Matt Roskill, sat down with the new Chief People Officer, Libby Townsend, to discuss how she plans to help us achieve this goal and what other ambitions she has for the UW People team. We are very excited to announce that UW has welcomed Libby Townsend this week as our new Chief People Officer 🙌 Libby joins us at a pivotal time for our business and will be responsible for driving our people agenda - ensuring we deliver on our plan to build a great culture and environment for our people to grow 💜 Libby comes with extensive experience in both high-growth businesses and utilities, having formerly worked at Pure Electric, Monzo Bank and OVO Energy. Here Libby had lots of success in leading people teams, building fantastic cultures and supporting innovation through periods of sustained growth. We can’t wait to see what she goes on to achieve at UW 😁
This week the UW team, both in the office and at home, embraced the festive spirit in support of Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day 2022 🙌 We wanted to promote upcycling your Xmas Jumper rather than buying new, and some of the results were fantastic! So far, the team have raised just over £570 but the UW Foundation will be matching donations up to £10,000, with the government promising to match funds as well.
