“My role within our People Function is extremely varied, and I love that no two days are the same. Recently, I worked on our latest employee survey, which gives us a great insight into how our people feel about working at UW and helps drive change to ensure everyone has a great experience. In my (almost) two years at UW, I’ve been lucky enough to be involved in some very meaningful projects. One of my proudest moments was setting up our Menopause Support Group, which has now been running for over a year. I’m really passionate about Diversity & Inclusion and am proud to have supported the set-up of other Belonging Networks run by our people. In the last couple of months alone, we’ve launched our Carers and UW Pride Networks, with several other areas in development - so watch this space. I love travelling with my husband and always try and go away 2-3 times a year. Just before Covid, we were lucky enough to go to Costa Rica which is an amazing country, full of great wildlife and scenery. I love how quickly we can change things for the better at UW. “No two days at UW are ever the same - my job never gets boring and I learn so much from every experience. As the Assistant Company Secretary, I manage our company’s employee share plans, ensure that we deliver on our corporate governance requirements as a FTSE250 company, and support the development of our Environmental, Social, and Governance initiatives. In the one year that I have been at UW, I’ve had the opportunity to be involved in many interesting projects. Currently, I’m conducting an analysis of our corporate governance structures and processes and suggesting ways in which we can improve against best practice. While there have been so many work-related highlights, my favourite would have to be when I took part in the Ben Fogle Rafting Challenge in Wales. It was an excellent way for me to meet some lovely people from all over UW. The challenge allowed us to bring out our competitive and adventurous side, which is something I had never done before. Of course, meeting Ben Fogle, and being interviewed by him, was pretty awesome as well! “In my 15 years at UW, I have always worked on our Broadband service. So, my days are full of discovery, data, understanding customers’ needs, identifying areas we can improve on, and driving customer experience forward. I’d like to give a big shout-out to Robyn Hyde, VP of Customer Product, who gave me an opportunity to step in as an acting Product Manager for a couple of months and get a taste for the role. It was a great experience and helped me decide to take the next step in my career. People at UW are amazing and I’ve made a lot of friends here over the years, but I have to say the biggest highlight of my time here has been meeting my fiance Emma. My spare time is spent with our (almost) 4-year-old daughter Elsie, who will be starting school this September…which we’re totally freaking out about - she’s growing up so fast! Having a young child means my hobbies now include soft plays, eating pretend food, attending many tea parties with dollies and teddies, and watching Frozen. Kat is a Broadband Product Manager and has been with UW for more than 16 years 💜 #WeAreUW

“To me, the best part of UW is without question the people that work here. They are the ones who help the business consistently deliver the highest levels of customer service, which is second to none. My main role at UW is to manage submissions received through the Your Voice Your Platform (YVYP) channel. My focus is to find where and when we can use the feedback and creative ideas received to simplify and make our existing processes easier to use. Outside of work, I read a lot - I love, love, love books (paranormal and mystery are my favourites), but I also love music and film (Reality TV being my guilty pleasure). I also like to make beaded jewellery to relax. An interesting fact about me is that I’ve been in the cockpits of multiple aircrafts. Why? Well, by the age of 6, I’d already attended 13 schools because of my Dad's job postings. This meant that every holiday we got to travel as unaccompanied minors, and on most flights we got invited to the cockpit to meet the pilots." We are very excited to welcome Sarah Henning this week as our new Energy Director ⚡ Sarah comes with a vast range of experience in both high-growth businesses and utilities, having formerly worked at Hastings Direct as their Commercial Director. Sarah also worked in a number of roles at Tonik Energy, E.ON. and Centrica. Sarah joins us at a pivotal time for our business and will be responsible for driving our energy service - ensuring we can expand our multiservice offering to help even more people save on their household bills 🏡 We can’t wait to see what she achieves at UW 😁
“What I love most about my team is how we work and support each other when needed. It makes working at UW such a delight because you feel that sense of belonging. My role within our College of Excellence Team helps support our Partner network by catering to their ongoing development. We provide lots of useful information via e-learning modules, along with personal development packages within our Partner Learning Portal. Outside of work, I am a family man. If I am not out with my wife and the kids, you will find me relaxing, listening to some music, or watching a movie. An interesting fact about me is that I love cartoons. I will sit and watch Pepper Pig with my daughter or My Little Pony, Wishing Poof, you name it. Marvel cartoons are amongst some of my favourites.
