“As Sales Growth Commercial Manager at UW, I look after channels that help our customers upgrade to even better Bundles. This means I map out strategies, ensure we're on the right trajectory, and adjust our plans when needed to keep us aligned with our goals. All this detailed work boils down to one purpose: helping as many people stay with UW and get the best value out of their account. What I love the most about my team is their steadfast commitment to doing well, their willingness to step out of their comfort zones, and their genuine consideration for one another. I’ve had many highlights in my time at UW, but one of my favourites has to be when I took part in the Ben Fogle Rafting challenge in the Brecon Beacons and met colleagues from other teams in the business. It was a fantastic couple of days in a beautiful setting. I have two children who are now 6 and 7 years old, I love spending time with them and seeing them grow. Family time is very important to me, and we love taking the kids on trips whenever we can. I’m proud to belong to such a forward-thinking and empowering business like UW. Despite the scorching weather, we took over Cheltenham Racecourse for two unforgettable days brimming with inspiration and new connections ⭐️ From the organisers to the attendees, it was truly a team effort. We want to give a special shoutout to the amazing employees who came to help out and made a huge impact on the event's success. “My role at UW helps to make life easier for our customers, Partners and employees by managing our smart meter rollout, ensuring everyone understands and can make the most of their benefits. From booking smart meter appointments all the way through to installation, our aim is to get them in as many homes as possible. Our installation rate is something I’m extremely proud of - we currently have 68% of our customer base already with a Smart Meter, which is well above the industry average. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I have a lot of nieces and nephews and love it when we all get together for a game of rounders or some board games. When I’m feeling a bit more active, I get out on my paddleboard. Admittedly, I’m not that great at it and often fall in! I also have an old black (almost grey) lab who keeps me very busy - he loves to sunbathe. I’ve had some very big life events happen over the last couple of years. Last year I got married, and in January we bought a new house. We haven't got around to doing all of the decorating needed yet, but I have spent the last few months learning how to be a bit more green-fingered while trying to maintain our lovely garden. I love UW’s multi-service offering. To have all of your services in one place and one bill is fantastic, and I’m excited to see what more we can do to make customer’s lives even easier.” Ashton is our Smart Rollout Manager and has been with UW for nearly two years 💜 #WeAreUW

One way we’re doing this is by partnering with the School Of Code Bootcamp 🧑💻 They offer a 16-week free online training course open to applicants from all backgrounds that prepares them for a new career as fully-fledged Junior Software Engineers 🚀 Through our partnership, senior engineers at UW offer mentoring throughout the course - building relationships and helping the students understand what life looks like in a thriving tech team. Even better, when these newly trained developers come to the end of their training, they will be given the chance to interview here at UW and continue learning on the job. “Working in the UW legal team is a fast-paced, exciting and very varied role - no two days are the same! Our team works as a support function helping the business navigate risks as well as advising on a whole host of strategic projects and commercial contracts. I also work as a legal advisor to the UW Foundation, which involves getting involved in all things charity and giving back. I am lucky enough to help oversee the UW Foundation and over the last year, we have supported so many amazing charities and initiatives. However, the one that stands out the most to me is the work we have done with our local food bank (the Trussell Trust - Colindale Foodbank). Outside of work, I am massively into my health and fitness and you will likely find me in the gym. I am quite competitive and take part in functional fitness competitions. I have also recently got back into gymnastics, a sport I did for 12 years competitively. I also love to spend time with my family and three young nephews, as well as see my friends and go on as many holidays as possible! I will be heading on maternity leave in November to welcome my first baby! I am incredibly excited about taking on my brand new role while knowing that my team have everything covered while I take some much-needed time with my baby." We’re excited to announce that we have partnered up with the Social Mobility Business Partnership (SMBP), and last week, we hosted our first Partnership day at our Colindale hub 🙌 We invited students to spend the day with us, meeting leaders from all over UW, setting their own personal goals and participating in interactive sessions, providing them with problem-solving and presentational skills that will help them in their future careers. The SMBP are committed to supporting students from low-income backgrounds in their pursuit of a career in law, business and finance. We are happy to be one of the four businesses they visited last week and hope that one day they may even consider a career with UW 💜 #SMBP #Careers
