Last week, our Hotel Commercial and Regional Operations Team held their celebration evening on behalf of the Welcome Break Charitable Fund Charity at Ramada London North. What an unforgettable evening! We'd like to say a big thank you to our sponsors, partners, and suppliers for contributing to big success of the event. Together, we managed to raise an incredible ยฃ16,000, supporting the wonderful causes our Welcome Break Charitable Fund and our charity partner Macmillan Cancer Support. It's moments like these that remind us of the positive impact we can make when we come together for the greater good. #ANightofImpactandInspiration #Partywithpurpose #lifeatwelcomebreak #charity #communityimpact
We have had a busy and exciting start to November with our leadership development programmes! Retaining and developing our World Class Teams is something we are proud of at Welcome Break. Not only did our sixth cohort for LEAD wrap up their classroom learning this week, we completed our first virtual High Potential or 'Hi-Po' class of 2023. Focusing on Human Needs, the team spent time finding out what drives people to come to work, and how we can LEAD and coach our teams in the modern-day workplace. #lifeatwelcomebreak
๐ฅณ As a proud supporter of Hospitality Rising UK, we'd like to wish the campaign a very happy first birthday! In the 365 days since Hospitality Rising launched, they've transformed the perception of working in hospitality for the better. Now 1 in 3 people would consider working in our industry (from 1 in 5 in 2022). This is just the beginning and together, we can help put an end to the misery of hospitality staff shortages. For more information and give your support to this important initiative, get in touch at hello@hospitalityrising.org #RiseFastWorkYoung #HospitalityRising
Litter on our roads is costly to clear up and it harms our environment. Which is why we are pleased to be working with Hubbub (UK) Limited, to help tackle roadside litter with a targeted approach: by putting signage at locations where vehicles go slowly, and asking road users to โkeep it โtil you bin it.โ Roadside litter is found mostly at slow speed locations like junctions, slip roads, roundabouts and traffic lights, according to litter survey by Ellipsis Earth. So, did it work? Itโs proven that interventions targeting litter hotspots worked 4-5 times better than those placed randomly. Watch the video below to find out more how we can keep #TidyRoadsides :
It's World Menopause Day today and we understand how much the Menopause impacts a womanโs life; so much so that our Menopause policy has been in place for over 3 years! Not only is it designed to support women through this stage of their life, but it also helps inform men, as allies, how they can support the women in their personal and professional lives. Let's keep the conversation going at work and at home. #weareateam #lifeatwelcomebreak
๐๐ We're thrilled to announce that Welcome Break Newark has won the top spot in the 'Midlands up to 4mlpa' category at last week's Forecourt Trader Awards! ๐๐ We couldn't have done it without our amazing team and loyal customers. Thanks for your continued support on this incredible journey! ๐๐
Developing our World Class Teams is in the DNA of Welcome Break. We are a fast-paced business with a significant mix of retail and hospitality services and itโs important that our leaders feel supported to successfully navigate the complexities of our business. Our leadership programme (LEAD) is designed to support our teams with developing their leadership capabilities; helping them to drive business performance, as well as engaging their teams and being an inclusive leader. Earlier this month, our latest cohort for LEAD were put through their paces delivering their recommendations to our Senior Leadership Team. They did a fantastic job of presenting the projects they have worked on as part of the programme, all of which are real challenges within the business and that collectively they find solutions for. We are looking forward to being able to implement some of their new ideas. Itโs how we will make Welcome Break and even greater place to work. #wecare #weareateam #wedeliver
This yearโs Transport Focus Motorway Services User Survey results have been announced, and we're so pleased to share some fantastic results! ๐ This year, an impressive 94% of customers said they were satisfied with their visit, a 3% improvement from last year, making us the most improved operator! ๐ Since the 2022 survey, we've been on a roll, investing in shiny new toilet and shower facilities at five of our sites: Birchanger Green, Hopwood Park, Gordano, Warwick North, and Warwick South. Thanks to these upgrades and the incredible dedication of our Facilities Teams across all our locations, a whopping 91% of our customers are satisfied with our restroom facilitiesโan impressive 6% increase from last year! ๐ฝ๐ฟ But we're not hitting the brakes just yet! Since the 2023 survey was conducted in the Spring, we've unveiled brand new toilet and shower facilities at three additional sites: Hartshead Moor East, Hartshead Moor West, and Woodall North. ๐ A massive shoutout goes to our incredible Team Members who go above and beyond every day to deliver an exceptional customer experience to all road users. And of course, a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful customers who choose to stop and savour the Welcome Break experience. Your support fuels our journey to make every pit stop a delightful adventure! ๐

Cake and Coffee, what's not to like! This week we are supporting our charity partner Macmillan Cancer Support and their Coffee Morning with a tasting hosted by two of our coffee masters Lauren Helps and Chloe Merrick. They are both managers from our sites working very hard taking time out to come to our Head Office earlier this week. Then our fabulous team members in our Motorway Sites and Hotels are doing an incredible job fundraising across the country today with some fantastic displays and games to get involved with.
