Wow, what a night! Our Summer Champions initiative to reward & recognise our front line teams during our summer trade period was shortlisted for the Best Reward and Recognition Award at the CIPD People Management Awards last night. Although we didn't win we are delighted that it was "Highly Commended" by the judging panel. Our initiative was a phenomenal achievement for our Leadership Development Programme (LEAD) 'business challenge' group Arfan Rashid Andrew Cunnington Lee Birchnall Kit Hodges Burbage who designed, developed and implemented the programme in its entirety. A true example of our core value #WeAreATeam in action. We are incredibly proud of them for all the hard work and dedication they put into this. People Director, Nicola Marshall said "The group have worked exceptionally hard over the last 18 months to devise a reward & recognition programme to really recognise our teams to deliver an exceptional customer experience. The group have worked tirelessly to take full ownership of this. I, and the SLT here, are extremely proud of this fantastic achievement, culminating in an award winning programme." Well done to everyone who was shortlisted and won awards last night, we had a great time celebrating with you, especially Alzheimer's Society who took home the R&R award 👏🏼
We are getting ready to put on the glitz this Thursday for the CIPD Awards. Being shortlisted for the Best Reward or Recognition Initiative Award was testament to the joint effort of many teams across Welcome Break to recognise the incredible work our team members do over summer which is our busiest trading period. Good luck to everyone who has been shortlisted for an award, we look forward to celebrating with you on the night. #cipdawards
What an unforgettable day it was on the 12th of September when Welcome Break hosted a charity football tournament that not only showcased exceptional sportsmanship but also raised over £10k for the Welcome Break Charitable Fund! Fifteen teams, 27 games, and one incredible winner – congratulations to Chopstix Noodle Bar for taking home the championship trophy! Red Bull gave it their all and came incredibly close to victory as the runners-up. And, while A.F.Blakemore didn't take home the championship trophy, they wowed everyone with their incredible superhero outfits and boundless enthusiasm! But the real winners are the individuals and causes that the Welcome Break Charitable Fund supports. Thank you to all who participated and contributed to this amazing cause. Together, we're making a meaningful impact on our community!
We have had another great week helping our new managers settle into their roles with our Welcome Break Leader Academy! Our new Managers told us that they would like a little more 'know how' to help them be great managers as well as getting the most from our systems. That's why we created our in-house programme to help them do just that! We love that this programme brings together a healthy mix of internally promoted managers, Site Leaders, leaders from our head office along with our external hires. It continues to be a great success with another 15 managers graduating this week. Thank you, and congratulations, to everyone who attended, we look forward to seeing you in your sites very soon! #lifeatwelcomebreak #weareateam #wedeliver
