Which? director of Advocacy and Policy, Rocio Concha Galguera writes this week in The i Paper on how the failure of Flybe shows passengers need more protection. 'It’s deeply regrettable when companies in any sector enter administration - not least because of the likelihood of redundancies. But in aviation, cases such as Flybe’s have not been rare occurrences, but frequent realities. Passengers caught up in them - stranded at home or abroad - deserve better.' #Aviation #ConsumerRights #FlyBe
At the end of this year, thousands of laws that were adopted when the UK was in the European Union could be scrapped. From product safety laws that stop the sale of dangerous toys to hygiene rules in restaurants and food labelling on products. We're calling on the government to change the bill so it does not remove fundamental protections concerning consumer rights, food and product safety at the end of 2023. We believe this deadline should be delayed to allow more time for a proper review of 4,000 laws and to avoid the risk of any law being missed and then deleted. #Brexit #ConsumerRights #ProductSafety
This morning, our consumer expert Harry Kind appeared on BBC News to discuss our research revealing 2.3 million households have missed payments in the last month. Harry said, '400,000 extra households missed payments compared to December and that's because prices are going up everywhere - across food, across bills, across housing costs - and it's hitting breaking point.' See a breakdown of how households are cutting back to make ends meet... 👉 https://lnkd.in/ej6D6q3w #Inflation #CostOfLiving #ConsumerInsights #ConsumerResearch

Yesterday morning, our nutritionist research and writer, Shefalee Loth, appeared on the BBC News channel to discuss our analysis of caffeine content in popular coffees. Shefalee said, 'We looked at single espressos and medium cappuccinos. A medium cappuccino at Starbucks contains 66mg of caffeine, whereas the same one at Costa contains 325mg - that’s five times more. As a consumer, you would have no idea.' ‘Grocery prices are a huge concern as households all over the country grapple with the cost of living crisis, so it’s timely and important for the Competition and Markets Authority to be looking at whether prices are clearly and fairly displayed at the supermarket. We know poor, inconsistent and sometimes missing price information is a problem and that's why Which? is campaigning for pricing transparency from supermarkets, so that shoppers can easily work out which products are the best value.’ Sue Davies MBE, Which? head of food policy We’re calling on supermarkets to commit to clear pricing, better access to budget ranges that enable healthy choices and more offers for those who need them most.
