We caught up with Brad Walker, co-chair of the Which? LGBTQ+ Network, who spoke about what Pride month meant to him. He said: ‘Pride isn't just one big party – it's a celebration of LGBTQ+ history and how far we've come, but also an acknowledgement that there's still change to be done. Pride is about equal rights, acceptance and celebrating ourselves.’ This month, the LGBTQ+ Network will be hosting several social gatherings, where colleagues can come together to celebrate and express what Pride means to them. Last week we had a great turnout at the coffee and cake social in our Cardiff office – check out the wonderful Pride-themed cake! #Pride #PrideMonth #PrideMonth2022
Congratulations to our May Values Sharer, internal communications manager, Anisha Mistry-Jones (MCIPR)! Anisha was nominated by her colleagues for living the values of ‘We’re Connected’ and ‘We Make It Happen’. She planned and executed three hybrid sessions of the Forum, a quarterly all-staff event, across our offices in London and Cardiff, while facing lots of logistical challenges in an extremely short period of time. She received excellent feedback from her colleagues and generated ‘unprecedented levels of engagement’. She made employees feel included, and overall did an incredible job! #Culture
Say hello to Ruby Oluwafemi, resourcing business partner, who is passionate about inclusive hiring, mentoring and nurturing young talent at the beginning of their career. She became an ambassador for NoTurningBack2020 last July and has since spoken at a number of schools and universities, highlighting the opportunities in marketing and communications to students and graduates from diverse backgrounds. Last week, she spoke at the #NoTurningBack careers festival: 'It was great to give some insight into looking for your first job, drawing from my own personal experience many years ago. But I also enjoyed sharing advice, as a recruiter, to ensure that young talent can put their best foot forward in interviews and when applying for jobs.'
Four months on from Ofcom's warning, we're calling on broadband providers to do a better job of promoting social tariffs to their customers. We conducted snapshot research and found that during the sign up process for a new broadband deal, none of providers asked if people received benefits such as Universal Credit. Given that telecoms services are essential, providers should ensure they actively support their customers, particularly those who are financially vulnerable. We are also calling on the government to reduce the amount of VAT paid on telecoms from 20% down to 5%. A reduction in VAT could save those on a standard broadband tariff up to £57 a year, and those on a social tariff up to £37.50 a year. Read more about our latest research: https://lnkd.in/ePkHSvvg
Say hello to Manca Virant, researcher and writer, who originally joined Which? as a sales and service advisor for Legal Members Services in January 2021. She says: 'I was excited to become a part of an organisation with such a positive reputation for helping consumers. My goal was always to progress within the company and ideally work in the content department, so I was thrilled when an opportunity to apply for a content role presented itself. 'I've been in my new role for three months and really enjoy researching and writing about home-related topics like small domestic appliances and vacuum cleaners, combining the knowledge I gained talking to Which? members on a daily basis.'
