Suzie Lowe is in our Product Design and User Research team, and is passionate about accessibility. She says: ‘My degree at Loughborough University has helped to inspire my interest and passion for universal design and it is a large driver for what I do now at work. As part of the PDUR team at Which?, I've been able to use my knowledge on accessibility to ensure that it's baked into our new Design System 'Seatbelt' over the past 18 months. 'As such, we've made great strides within our Product & Engineering departments to ensure that accessibility is thought about from the beginning of our project work. We've got a long way to go to improve our accessibility here at Which?, made easier with great support and guidance from Marcus Tucker, Stephen McCarthy and Rico Surridge.' Which? has won permission to represent almost 30 million UK consumers in its case against global chipset manufacturer Qualcomm. We are acting on behalf of UK consumers who have bought Apple and Samsung phones since October 2015. It’s a great step forward in our efforts to secure the nearly £500 million that we believe consumers are owed by Qualcomm. Congratulations to the Which? Money Podcast team for winning our quarterly team recognition award. Rob Lilley, Lucia Ariano, Ian Aikman, Charlotte Gifford and Sam Richardson have been recognised for living the value of 'We make it happen'. In response to the cost of living crisis, the team went above and beyond in adapting the Which? Money Podcast into an 'Ease the Squeeze' miniseries https://lnkd.in/eVBEK9GG. The series has had more than 50k listens and the team worked wonders, quickly involving various experts from across the organisation to release a weekly podcast on topics such as how to save money on your energy bills, broadband, and TV and phone contracts. #CostOfLiving
Congratulations to our latest Values Sharer, member services advisor, Robert Stevenson who received nominations from colleagues for living the values of ‘We’re Rigorous’ and ‘We Make It Happen’. He stepped into the shoes of a team manager, and has gone above and beyond to boost sales, and help others. He has also been a huge help in recruitment, ‘professional, organised, efficient, structured, and warm and friendly to boot!’ Robert has continued to provide an incredible amount of support to his team, and has helped member services run smoothly. Congratulations Robert! #Values #ValuesSharer
Last year, we launched the Which? Fund, enabling charities and universities with exempt charitable status to apply for funding for research projects into harm experienced by diverse and disadvantaged consumer groups, which result in evidence-based solutions. We are delighted to announce that the four projects which we are very excited to be funding are: Money and Mental Health to explore and tackle unfair discrimination against people with mental health problems in key insurance markets. Pensions Policy Institute (PPI) to assess and address the pensions policy impact of inadequate ethnic minority coverage in national data sets. National Energy Action (NEA) looking to strengthen energy advice and support networks for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities. Social Market Foundation to explore whether there is a gap in the take up of financial products among consumers from an ethnic minority background, why this might be and what would help. #Research #HelpingConsumers #PolicyMaking #Grants
Kamisha Darroux, principal scientific advisor, is also one of our trained Which? Feel Good Champions. 'It is about learning how to be a mental health ally and being able to support people. We are not trained counsellors, so our role is not to give advice or therapy. It is about listening to people, having open conversations and signposting people towards other forms of assistance, if needed.' Find out more about her personal experience and how Which? is putting employee mental health in the spotlight in her article for Vercida. https://lnkd.in/e2k4R8qX #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek #MentalHealthAlly #MentalHealth
Today marks a BIG win in our fight to #ProtectCash! The government has announced it will introduce legislation to protect access to cash, in today’s Queen’s Speech. The bill will also introduce additional protections for those investing and using financial products, as well as introducing better protection for scam victims who are tricked into transferring money to a fraudster. Thank you HM Treasury for listening to and helping protect UK consumers. See what else was announced in today’s Queen’s Speech https://lnkd.in/daw3H6Ma
