Winn Group entered 54 runners into the 2024 edition of the Sunshine Fund's 5km Sunshine Run. In an event that aims to raise funds for the purchase of equipment for children with disabilities in the region, our biggest-ever team took part and raised over £3,800. With the sun shining on the Quayside in Newcastle, it was an evening enjoyed by all.
Twelve months ago, we agreed to support a community centre based in the heart of our local area. 🫶🏼 St Martin’s Centre has been delivering vital community services to the Byker and Walker districts for a number of years. Having seen first-hand their outstanding support of struggling families in one of the most deprived areas of the United Kingdom, our CSR program backed their Hardship Fund, a scheme that allows the centre to spot families presenting and in need, and purchase essential supplies for children, as well as other vital provisions!
Congratulations to Natasha Askew who has completed her training contract and secured a qualified Solicitor status! 👏🏼 A significant achievement in the career of any aspiring legal professional, Natasha has worked diligently over the past two years, and well before that, to reach this point.
We recently visited our charity of the year, Tiny Lives at the RVI Neonatal Unit.❤️🩹 Exploring the ward, we discovered the amazing support provided by Tiny Lives Trust, our charity of the year, to families and babies during challenging times. We learnt about the range of services they offer, from parent and sibling packs to access to counsellors, psychologists, family support social workers and keepsake boxes. These services aim to ensure families are as comfortable as possible during this difficult period.
A huge well done to Team Winn Group who took part in The Chronicle Sunshine Fund 5k run last Wednesday! ☀️ There were 54 Winns employees on the start line, out of 232 in total, the most we’ve entered into what has become an annual tradition in aid of the Chronicle Sunshine Fund, a charity that raises funds to purchase equipment for disabled children in the region that isn’t available on the NHS. In total, as it stands, we’ve raised £3,822!
Congratulations to Amy Graham, our Associate Director, who has recently hit her 15 year anniversary here at Winn Group! This is a notable milestone, from starting as a qualified solicitor in 2009, Amy has seen her career take a similar upward trajectory to that of the company, moving into a leadership role as Deputy Head of Commercial and Contested Litigation most recently.
We assisted the Great North Air Ambulance Service, a donation-based emergency service that delivers quick and effective medical treatment in emergency scenarios by recovering their call-out fee! 🚁 We were honoured to support this wonderful charity when our dedicated Serious and Technical Injury Team managed to recover their costs. Our client was in Newcastle with friends when a driver ignored a 'no entry' sign and lost control of the vehicle. The driver crushed our client against a building causing significant injuries
Well done to Andrea Turnbull, Solicitor Personal Injury Specialist within our Personal Injury team, who received a bouquet of flowers from her client. 💐 Andrea helped secure a settlement in excess of £30,000 following an accident in which our client was knocked over by a driver, suffering significant injuries.
Our HR Team has recently expanded, welcoming two new members to the department. 🥳 Welcome to Allwin Alexander who has joined Winn Group as our new Learning and Development Assistant and will work alongside Bradley Parker - Assoc. CIPD, our Group Learning and Development Officer, and Sohail Alrahi, our new Group HR Officer. The pair will no doubt be an asset to the team, helping with the daily tasks related to the company's recruitment and HR tasks.
Congratulations to Laura Redhead for hitting her 10-year anniversary! 🙌 Laura’s journey has taken her from Post Team to Portal Team, as a Legal Assistant, on to Vehicle Damage before a switch to File Closure where she became a Compliance and Closure Clerk. It demonstrates our desire to upskill our employees, to provide opportunities wherever possible, and to ensure each person has the chance to fulfil their potential with Winn Group.
