What is working from home like at American Express?

      American Express reviews

      Good place to grow

      Pros

The company offers lot of benefits and events, offers flexibility to work from home, modern and big office

      Cons

Lots of changes in processes constantly, bonus and schedule depends on performance ranking and entry salary is quite low.

Great Earning Potential and Flexibility, but Challenging Sales Cycles

      Current employee

      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Pros: Uncapped commissions with strong earning potential — hitting 100% to target pays just over $100K (before tax), and 150% to target can reach around $160K total. Base salary + commission structure is fair and motivating for high performers. Stock options and profit-sharing match provide excellent long-term incentives. Comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, vision, etc.). Flexible hybrid schedule: typically 3 days in office, 2 from home, with the opportunity to earn more WFH days based on performance. Strong brand reputation and supportive peers who make collaboration enjoyable. Great culture. Range of age groups but has lots of young adults and lots of willingness to help one another.

      Cons

Cons: Full end-to-end sales cycle — from prospecting to closing — can be demanding and time-intensive. Economic conditions can directly impact credit approvals and spending limits, making it harder to hit goals in slower markets. Performance-driven environment; not ideal for those who prefer a steady pace or dislike rejection. Targets always increasing so technically always having to work harder for same commission payout (based on percentage to target).

      Cons

No work from home available anymore, though they offer 3 day in-office hybrid. Slow acceptance of new LLM tech and tools (copilot)

      Pros

Great benefits and the ability to work from home were some of the perks. You get out of it what you put into it and I loved the people I worked with and the chance to be part of a team at the forefront of elite customer service.

      Cons

High-end customers can be a challenge so you need to know how to handle demanding requests and complaints.

      Pros

The people there were very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was also calm and they have a cafeteria with good food in the building. There is also a hybrid option, meaning you can go into the office some days and work from home on others.

      Cons

The drive coming to the office was around 30 minutes for me with good traffic and around 45-1 hour leaving at around 5PM. The office is also large, so it may take some time to remember where to go.
