      Graduate Area Manager Interview

      26 Sept 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at ALDI in Sept 2016

      Interview

I applied for Swindon/Cardiff area. The process has taken 6 weeks so far. I am now awaiting results of the video interview. The stages are as follows: 1. Psychometric tests where you need to respond to various statements about leadership and management styles. 2. Online application form. Lengthy and took me the longest to complete because I was being very thorough and I had some doubts about verifying my qualifications because I'm a foreigner. I don't remember all the questions but they can be found on this forum. Make sure you give coherent answers, obviously always spell check. They ask you for your academic qualifications, a Bachelor's degree is sufficient. Also, it is enough to add your A Levels (or equivalents in my case), you can skip GCSEs (or again equivalents). They do ask you to provide some sort of verification by email if you're not in the UCAS Tariff. I couldn't really work out how to properly convert my equivalents so I emailed them and got a response what to put there, and that I didn't need verification at that stage. Generally, if you have questions, shoot them an email, they reply within a couple of days usually. 3. Saville online tests - 2 in numeracy, 2 in verbal reasoning, 2 diagrammatic. You can find practice tests online, do them! There is a short time limit and you need to be quick so it's good to be prepared. Also, the actual tests will be more difficult than examples. However, don't worry if you don't get it all right. I'm pretty sure I messed up my 1st diagrammatic completely but still got through. 4. Video interview. If you make it, you only have 5 days to make the video since receiving the email. Prepare well and practice with a webcam! There are 9 (?) questions, you need to confirm your name and regions you applied for (write it down because it won't show up anywhere after completing stage 2 online app). I compiled a list of all questions I found on this forum and prepared answers so that they could be tailored to either 30 or 60 second response time. This really helped me and I answered all questions within the time limit. However, it felt rather impersonal and a bit stressful. This is as far as I have made it. I recorded my video interview 2 weeks ago and haven't heard back yet.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The most difficult video interview question was "What do you think you will be doing as an area manager in short, medium and long term?"

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ALDI (London, England) in Oct 2023

      Interview

Overly lengthy application process. They are looking for a very particular individual regardless of technical experience or capability. If you have a group of people that are not particularly capable, It is almost impossible to do the group exercise properly without coming across as overbearing.
