      Graduate Area Manager Interview

      21 Apr 2017
      Anonymous employee
Swindon, Wiltshire, South West England, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at ALDI (Swindon, Wiltshire, South West England, England) in Apr 2017

      Interview

The whole application process was relatively straight forward, beginning with filling in the application, to then doing the psychometric tests, to a video interview, an assessment day, and a one on one interview. As i'm sure a lot of you are curious about the assessment day, this is what I will describe thoroughly. I applied for Swindon and Chelmsford, and my assessment day was at Swindon. I have been to several assessment days before, namely PwC, Heineken, and a few others. Whilst it was fairly standard as assessment days go, it was different in the sense that the atmosphere was more rigid. Before I went, I used Glassdoor to get as much information as possible and it was a huge help, as I got the offer to the next stage. It panned out as such. Brief introduction of yourself, 3 minute presentation of a selected topic Group Assignment. The brief introduction of yourself is as simple as it sounds. The 3 minute presentation was different to what I had been exposed to in other assessment days, but it was a very good way to ensure that all candidates did a thorough walk through of an Aldi store and know about the Aldi Business model. I cannot stress enough that you have to know the business model very well. The topics that they randomly assign are what other candidates have said on this website : Store Layout, Product Range (excluding special buys), Special Buys, Till Operation, Consumer Behaviour, and Emloyees. Prepare something on all of these topics, you can take notes into the assessment day and use them. The Group Assignment was centred around selected a CV for a role at a store. It is essential you read thoroughly through all CVs as quickly as possible, and distill it down to the PROs and CONs. You then have to debate within your group as to why you selected a particular candidate and all come to a conclusion to choose a candidate to put forward. The assessor was kind, but not gentle. She shot out questions when she wanted the answers and was very direct. However, this worked for me as I understand that this no-frills attitude runs throughout Aldi. If you are unable to stand your ground and know how to handle yourself in these situations you will struggle. However, the process has been a really great one for me.

      Interview questions [1]

      Interview
