I am an American studying full time in the United Kingdom, and came across the opportunity to apply for the London office via my University's career center. I explored the company a bit further and decided to apply for a position in the New York office so that I could return to the States after graduation. Because of this, I assume my interview process was slightly different than most people applying to the New York office. I started off with a couple of interviews via Skype, where most of the questions were about my background, what I knew about the company, etc. I would recommend doing as much research on the firm as possible, as they are quite a unique company. Eventually, I was invited to the New York office over my winter break for an afternoon, where I met several analysts, associates, and the director. Prior to the interview, I was given a case to prepare ahead of time where I was given an industry to research (Air Transport). I was told to present on how the industry works, key players, and how AlphaSights could help a client looking to learn more about the company, including making recommendations on which industry experts you would choose to put a client in touch with. Be prepared to discuss why you chose these individuals. Everyone I met with was bright, passionate, and very willing to answer my questions as candidly as possible. It was great to not be fed a bunch of standard answers to questions, like the type you might get while being recruited from a large multi-national company. The firm is clearly looking for people who are the right fit, as it is a small company, and the recruiting process feels very personal. In the end, I received an offer, but chose to decline. I only did so because I am still unsure about what I want to do following graduation ( I am considering military or taking time off to travel), but would highly recommend applying if you are entrepreneurial and want to be part of a growing company. Overall great recruiting experience and from what I can tell, a great place to work.
