      Procurement Officer Interview

      28 Jul 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Ho Chi Minh City
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Amaris Consulting (Ho Chi Minh City) in Jun 2017

      Interview

First step was a phone call from the staff recruiter, a friendly woman. We went over my CV and my motivation etc... She was quick and to the point. She explained the second step would be with the manager and the third and final step would be with another manager. A second interview through skype was scheduled, but was moved to the next day at the same time, and then moved again to one hour earlier. At the appointed time at last I received a phone call. Not a skype call as this 'manager', could not get his skype to work. Manager, really? He said this was the first step again and that two more would follow. I checked again to make sure I heard that right, but he did confirm it... ughh... I had to go over my CV yet again and had to explain my motivation again after which I was asked a couple of questions about what I expected of this job. So far nothing bad really, despite being slightly annoyed about this being my second first step, not being able to do this over skype and instead having to do this over a poor quality overseas mobile phone connection, and having to repeat myself about my CV and motivation. What annoyed me more were the bizarre situational questions and the vague explanations about the fictional situation I am supposed to be in. For example, If you had to make two categories in your tasks, what would they be and why? Yeah... I don't know, what tasks? I don't work there yet, do I? Why two categories? What's the use? Why categorize at all? There were a few more bizarre 'situations' which were poorly explained due to the mediocre level of English this guy. And when I managed to come up with a few answers to these ridiculous questions, he did not seem to properly understand me. This experience for me only confirms the many mixed reviews I read about the questionable competences of what they call 'managers' at this company. Needless to say that subtly suggesting his questions were useless and not being able to mask my annoyance even over the phone did not get me through to the third step... or second? Or whatever...
