      Interview

I applied for a Graduate position at ARUP after completing my Doctorate in Fluid Mechanics. I passed the 1st round of online situational judgement assessment. The process took more than two months for them to invite me to assessment center which i was rejected for. The waiting period is way too long and one is likely to receive a rejection despite having the qualification and passing the online assessment.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

never got an invite for interview.
      Answer question

      Interview

I have applied online, the application was very long, tiring, and it didn't seem like anyone actually read what I wrote there. Then much much later I have received an invitation to a phone interview, for which I was offered two options: the exact same day a few hours later, or the next day. The phone interview itself was very frustrating, the HR person I was talking to was obviously tired, bored and acted uninterested. I have received questions REPEATEDLY about their values and how they apply to me. I have even asked for clarification whether I am understanding the questions right, because at least five questions one after the other were all hammering the same issue (values) and were basically asking almost the same thing in various forms. See list of questions! It got so repetitive, frustrating and boring that by the fifth question I have had a hard stopping myself from laughing and saying "You are kidding me, right?" I have almost rejected the job right there and then.

      Interview questions [5]

      Question 1

You are a graduate at Arup and you have been working on a large major project you greatly enjoy, for 6 months. Your manager contacts you and ask you to work on several smaller projects instead. What do you do?
      Answer question

      Question 2

You have recently finished a major project, and you have one hour free. A senior colleague is working for a very tight deadline and is struggling, on a completely different field than what you have experience in. What do you do?
      Answer question

      Question 3

You are working on several projects and you have tight deadlines. Your manager asks you to participate in another project. What do you do?
      Answer question

      Question 4

      (1) Why would you like to work for Arup? (2) What sets Arup apart from the competition? (3) Which of Arup’s values resonate with you? (4) If you choose just one of those values, how would you demonstrate you have lived up to that value? (5) If you would work for Arup, how would those values impact how you work? (6) How do you think subscribing to those values will make you a better engineer?
