I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Auto Club of Southern California (San Diego, CA) in May 2026
Interview
The interview is 3 rounds: recruiter screen, in-person with 2 managers, and final interview with VP. Interviewers asked pretty standard sales and competency questions. Make sure you sell yourself and demonstrate that you are competitive, personable and coachable.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about a time you had to work around company policy and how did it make you feel?
Tell me about a time you faced a rejection and how did you overcome it?
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Auto Club of Southern California (Costa Mesa, CA) in May 2026
Interview
Step 1: 15 minute phone call with recruiter. Simple questions about your sales process and examples of exceeding goals. Recruiter covers rough overview of work schedule, and 3 month training period.
Step 2: In person interview with two floor managers. More practical questions about overcoming obstacles, and providing examples of “a time when you have to overcome xyz” or “a time you had to adapt to an unexpected change.” After that, they left it open to questions and gave plenty of time to discuss.
Step 2a: If that conversation goes well, you talk with one final General Manager who tells you that they aren’t interested in your resume, and they want to learn about you outside of your resume. In retrospect, I realized this is because they want to know how much time you dedicate to your life outside of work. Then they ask “how much do you want to make?” I was told that if I had said anything under $100k they would’ve walked out of the room. Finally they tell you that they never offer the job on the spot because “this is something you need to discuss with your loved ones/family, because we’re going to be pulling you away from them a lot. You’ll be working at least 40 hours of overtime a month, and the turnover rate for new agents is really high. There are very stressful days, and this isn’t a job for everyone, and I want to make sure you’ve taken the time to consider if this is something you want to do. So here’s my card, send me an email within the next 24 hours saying why you want to work for AAA, and why we should hire you.”

Interview
Interview was very simple, but there were various interviews. The last interview was with a group of about 6 diffferent attorneys all asking questiona after question, The questions were pretty reasonable. Seems like a good place for an attorney at the beginning of their career.
