I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Avis Budget Group in Mar 2017
Interview
Online application form followed by online video interview. Video interview was a nightmare. You get 15 seconds to prepare for each answer and then 90 seconds to answer. You are told to answer with your best smile! There's a very visible countdown clock - Countdown Quiz style - as you are recording the answer and it just eats into your concentration. You only get one chance to record each answer with no re-dos. This was far more stressful than a face-to-face interview! Also, as the questions went along, I had the sneaking suspicion that there was going to be considerably more valeting and damage checking, rather than just driving in the role than the initial advert had suggested! You get told to present yourself as for a real interview, so I put on a formal shirt and tie. You get to look at your recorded answers later and I now regret that decision; I look like a complete doofus. Also, the amount of stammering and stumbling over my words, plus the number of facial tics I had did not reflect my normal presentation in real life. Never again!

Question 1
What is it about you that makes you a great addition to our growing team here at ABG?
You will be required to carry out valeting and damage checks when customers return cars to store. How would you feel about having this variety in your role?
If you were in a store and saw a customer who was clearly distressed about having to queue after already making a long journey that day what would you do to rectify the situation?
We appreciate your feedback. We are in the process of rolling out the video interviewing program, currently it is only applicable to a percentage of our open roles. We are always looking to improve the user experience for our candidates. Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience.
