I was really disappointed in the HR screening because rather than it feeling like a conversation, where the person was actively listening/engaging, it was clear they were just typing down every word I said verbatim. After each response to a question, the person asked me to repeat what I said 2-3 times so they could get every word. They would then read it back to me. Every time. A 45-min call took 1.25 hours. I've been interviewing regularly and have not had this experience before (so I don't think it's a matter of not speaking slow enough). If this is how you are going to screen candidates, you might as well send the questions ahead of time and just let us write and share the responses. Or simply record the calls so you have a full transcript, allowing you to engage with the person in conversation. It then took 2 full months to hear back from them, and I was simply auto-rejected. I followed up half way thorough but otherwise would not have heard until I was rejected. I had a lot to offer this role and was really excited about it, so it was a disappointing first experience interviewing with Bayer. To note: this is even with 2 internal references.
