      Frontend Developer Interview

      11 Oct 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Booking.com in Sept 2021

      Interview

The process is consisting of several steps. 1 - Applied from website 2 - I got an online test via mail. It was hackerrank test. It was consisting of 5 questions: * 2 questions to solving a problem, algorithm etc. * 2 multiple select questions * 1 react question - coding a simple component 3 - A Recruiter Phone Interview - It was also a little bit difficult. I was not expecting 3 technical questions from a recruiter 4 - Technical interview round 1 5 - Technical interview round 2 6 - Culture fit interview Even I completed the technical interview rounds, I did not know that I have to make everything pixel perfect, design pure and technically awesome. You have 1 hour and how can that be possible? I don't know. I thought they are testing my frontend problem solving skills and my technical approach. But they were only looking for the pixel perfect exact solution. Be careful to make everything as same design as the problem description. Otherwise, you will not have any chance. After I learnt that I will not get an offer even I completed all of the steps one by one, I am a little bit disappointed. I got some feedbacks from HR and understood that my technical round 2 was not met with their expectation. So why did I join to last interview if I failed in technical round 2? Why did you waste my time? Process is very tiring and painful. Everything is up to your interviewer's mood and your luck. Keep your expectations low and don't get discouraged.

They will give you a github link with project. Your task is to create a few tasks with html and js for 1.5 hours (it was quite challenging because there is no framework :))

      Frontend Developer Interview

      5 Jan 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Booking.com (London, England) in Dec 2021

      Interview

First, the initial call with recruiter was moved twice. But that is understandable and I didn’t pay that much attention to it. But then the impression I’ve got is that the recruiter was not competent, didn’t know what they are looking for - the questions were so abstract, like reading from the list, “how familiar are you with relative/absolute positioning?”, “how familiar you are with HTML?” - what do you expect to hear from the candidate?? “Yes, I am familiar, I feel comfortable with that”?? Alright. Then, since my previous experience is in the B2B company, that per se doesn’t have a million of daily users, the recruiter had “to check with someone else if they can proceed with the next steps, because at Booking.com they are handling millions of users per day”. Fair enough. But it is not a backend position for me to handle a huge load of million of requests, it is a frontend position, so ask something more relevant regarding my knowledge and expertise. So, recruiter promised to check with someone and get back to me in 1-2 days. Since that moment almost a month passed - never heard back. To send a template email “Sorry, we will not be moving your application forward” takes 1 minute, show some respect to your candidates! Very disappointed.
