I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Booking.com (Amsterdam) in Dec 2022
Interview
Applied via referral. Recruiter emailed with times to schedule an interview with them. She was very professional. This interview was more of a general fit - skills-wise and cultural fit. They highly prioritise candidates who have had AB testing experience. Second interview is called the Craft Interview - with 2 Data Scientists. They asked me about one of my projects, in detail. I wasn't prepared for this tbh (the level to which they asked me). This was followed by a business case interview specific to booking.

I applied online. I interviewed at Booking.com (Amsterdam) in Jan 2026
Interview
I applied online for a Data Scientist role. The process had three interviews over a few weeks. First, a video call with a recruiter, who suggested a marketing-focused Data Scientist role that fit my background better. Then a second recruiter call, which was a bit more challenging. After that, a Craft (technical) interview: a short intro, a 20-minute project presentation, and a 30-minute business case. The recruiters communicated quickly and the process was clear and well organized.

Question 1
The business case in the technical interview was the most important part. The scenario had two marketing campaigns running at the same time, and I had to explain how to measure their combined value and decide whether to keep campaign A, campaign B, or both together.

Interview
I was contacted by a senior recruited on LinkedIn and invited to apply for the data scientist position. After the recruiter call, I was ghosted. Even after following up there was no reply.
