      Manager, Software Developer Interview

      14 Oct 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      McLean, VA
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One (McLean, VA) in Sept 2016

      Interview

Had an HR interview, then a technical phone screen and later multiple on sight interviews. On site interview was probably my worst experience. Interviewers were not prepared, they were reading my resume in front of me and discovering things during the interview. Very basic things like "oh! You currently working for company X?" or "I see you have experience in A but how about B or C?". Interview coordinator had no idea where other some of the interviewers were. Out of 4 on sight interview 2 were telephonic, which defeats the purpose of having on sight interviews. Interviewers were late for the interview to the point we had to reschedule for the later time on that day. Coordinator didn't even care to learn my name and kept referring me as "this guy" to other interviewers. Another thing is the company asks interviewers to input all the info in some internal system, so every single interviewer came with laptop. So during the interview they were simply just start typing my answers. It was very distracting and didn't feel like a conversation. After On sight I heard back from the recruiter and he arranged phone chat with few more different teams' hiring managers to see I'd be a good fit for that team and I'd like the work the team had to offer.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Nothing major. literally everything from my resume. Infact in one interview someone just ask me to read every single line in my resume and ask possibly 2 questions in 45 min.
