      Senior Claims Examiner Casualty Interview

      8 Feb 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Phoenix, AZ
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Chubb (Phoenix, AZ) in Feb 2019

      Interview

I applied online for 2 positions one Auto and the other Casualty. I received an email the next day to setup a phone interview with HR. The next day the phone interview lasted about 30 minutes. They were nice and talked mainly about my experience and did not ask STAR questions. The next day I was asked to come in and do an in person interview. I came in a couple days later and met with two people for the auto position and got about 5 questions in and they said they were going to hand me off to casualty since I seemed liked I'd be a better fit. For those reading this that have no idea what the difference between the two positions is, theres a huge difference. Casualty is commercial/GL BI and 3rd party property claims. Auto is no BI. I was glad they passed me on. The interview with the two Casualty Supervisors went fantastic although it last 1.5 hours. I got all great indications. Unfortunately the Casualty Mgr was not there so they called me to schedule yet another interview with them. A couple days later I came back for that interview with the Mgr. It lasted 2 1/4 hours. Lots of story telling, lots of behavior based STAR questions. The only thing that did not seem good was when they asked why I was asking for the salary I was. WARNING: for PHX the salaries listed are not up to date or correct for new hires. You will be laughed at if you ask near what is reported as the average salary for senior claims exmainers. Ultimately I knew after the first day with no call that I was not going to be extended an offer. I am disappointed I spent over 4 hours interviewing, not to mention time off work and 3 hours in traffic driving only to be told no with no feedback. I do feel the salary requirement was a huge reason they said no. If you are willing to work lots of complex commercial/GL BI and 3rd party property claims for what you could be paid as a LIABILITY adjuster at other companies then go for it, this is the job. If you know you're worth then don't even apply for this job.
