Deliveroo’s interview process is honestly exhausting and borderline ridiculous. First of all, there are five rounds in total, but the worst part is that the last four—Presentation, Behavioral, SQL Coding, and Case Study—are all crammed into a single “final loop.” If you underperform in any of those rounds, you're instantly rejected, and they only give you feedback at the very end. That means you could spend hours preparing and going through interviews without any idea how you're doing until it's all over. It’s a huge time sink and mentally draining.
The Presentation round is especially brutal—it requires at least a week of preparation, focused on analysis related to the rider side of the business. If you don’t already have experience in that area, your chances of success are slim. On top of that, you have no idea which team you’re actually interviewing for; they randomly assign teams without considering your strengths or domain expertise. Often, your interviewers don’t even fully understand the area you specialize in, yet they’re the ones judging your technical depth.
Overall, the process is long, inefficient, and fails to accurately assess a candidate’s true skills. It feels less like an interview and more like a grueling endurance test. Honestly, Deliveroo’s process is a textbook example of how to drive away talented candidates.
