I sent a job application right before the pandemic started. It was a spontaneous application.
They replied super quickly and we had a phone call.
Right after the phone call, the pandemic started. I was contacted after around two weeks. They sent me a really nice project to implement by myself in a week.
Once I sent the project, I was contacted by the HR after a few days, telling me they wanted to continue with a technical interview. It was really pleasant, covering Algorithms and Distributed Systems theory.
In between these steps I went through some aptitude interviews as well
After that, there should have been a face to face interview. Unfortunately, we were in a lockdown, so we had to do it from home. It was a day-long event. I had interviews with founders, employees, and CEO. During the day I also continued to do some technical interviews, involving architecture, software design and algorithm aspects.
It has been an intensive but interesting experience.
I received an offer, that, I had to unfortunately turn down due to some personal problems that arised during the days of the final interview, and did not allow me to move for an indefinite amount of time, and smart working was not an option at Empatica during that time (they actually told me I could wait a few weeks before moving, but at the time, I had no idea how long I was going to be stuck at home).
To wrap, I really liked the company. People are friendly, skilled, they have PhDs and their interview process really gets to the important points. I reccomend it.
